Hello everyone. I need to have something cleared up in my life and I need some reassurance that I doing the right thing with my life. About a year ago, I was in a very bad place. I had just graduated college with a technical degree and had friends, but I was the most insecure little b*tch you would meet in my social group. I was doing drugs and drinking heavily, not taking care of myself (though I was pretty ripped still), and generally not enjoying myself. I had only about three friends or so who were staying in the area after college, the rest decided to either move back home, or found jobs elsewhere.
After I found my current job, I had decided to move out to the suburbs by myself to get away from the inner city area where my college was based. The city really stressed me out and made me unhappy. I would still go see my friends while I wasn't working, but I was improving myself in no way, and my job performance was not improving at the rate I wanted it too. I could not get what I wanted in life.
I was sick and tired of being who I was before, fed up with being disrespected and walked over in general (guys, girls, friends, coworkers, etc.) so I made it a mission to improve myself. In order to do this, I knew I would need to spend some time away from my friends, and focus from improving from the inside out.
To begin I cut how habits that were detrimental to me such as drinking, smoking, watching porn, and too much tv. I took up hobbies such as playing basketball again, meditation and working out. I was beginning to feel much better about myself because I was doing what I wanted to do. I was working very hard and my job performance increased as well, and I have become a go to guy for getting projects completed. I set up a life plan and have goals and dreams that I want accomplished, and I will not stop until I have achieved them.
The problem is, my social life has gone to hell. It is gone. I lost my friends when I cut out these negative habits, they only saw me as a weak person and it was never their plan to keep me around if I began to challenge them. Since I don't drink anymore, I have no reason to be around them either. They are nothing like me anymore. All of them are poor, do drugs, are afc towards women, douchebag types. Just not like me at all.
On top of this, I have begun 60 hour work weeks, due to the amount of projects I have taken on. I really want to succeed in my professional life, so I will work these hours. In addition, I will be getting my masters degree next year (paid for by company). Basically, I have lost all my friends due to improvement (ironic) and I now have absolutely no time to meet anyone or hang out with anyone. On the weekends I have family matters I need to take care of, and lots of chores that need to be done. I also need to stay in excellent shape and eat healthy, the standards I set for myself need to be kept. Could go out on Friday and Saturday nights, that is my only chance to enjoy social time.
I need your guy's opinions on all of this work that I am doing. If all goes right I will be earning over 100k by the time I am 28~30 and my goals will begin to be met. I just lack time for a social life or a relationship for that matter. However, my drive has given me loads of confidence and I don't feel the same anxiety I have had before. Girls have taken an interest, but in the back of my mind I know I can't get into a relationship. I could hook up, but I'm still learning on how to make that happen with my limited time to game.
What do you think? Am I working too hard, and running myself into the ground? Or am I on the path to reaping fantastic rewards?
