Last night I went out and partied like usual, had a good convo with a girl that seems to be a lot more like I am than anybody I've met in quite a while (also resembles my "first girl" when I was 8 :D). But anyhow, all that aside...

People keep on looking at me like "I know you." Most people know who I look like after a few seconds, and then go like "Ahh! You look like Pieter van den Hoogenband!" (link, I've been told I'm better looking but still do have a lot of the same features)

Now, initially these reactions pissed me off. It just annoyed the hell out of me because it feels kind of like they're saying "You're someone else!!" and then quickly put me in this box of "look-alike".

I developed some lines to counter these responses such as "Ahh damn, you caught me! It's so hard going out these days, everybody knows me!" which usually gets a little laugh, but not much more.
I've also tried to convince people that I look different from that guy (because I do! :D), by stating that my nose is straighter, my eyebrows are thicker and my teeth are straighter, but they still keep on thinking of me as a look-alike.

Now, I realised this yesterday and also realised that despite of the fact that I am often annoyed by it, I can most definitely work this to my advantage. Everybody I talk to has this "I know you from somewhere" right from the beginning, which is ofcourse something quite usable.

But, apart from the fact that it can work to my advantage, I haven't come up with any good ways of using this, so I thought I'd post here and see what you guys have to say about it :D

"She Wants a Man, Not a Boy"

You asked her if she wanted to grab coffee. Then you asked if the time worked. Then you asked if the place was okay. Then you asked if she'd prefer tea.

Four questions. Four chances for her to say no. Four signals that you're terrified of making a decision.

Plan it. Pick the place. Pick the time. Tell her where to meet you. She'll either show up or she won't.

Either way, you look like a man instead of a scared little boy.

Making a big deal out of it seems like a pretty nerdy thing to do. Its good your not arguing with people about it anymore.

Just say, "Really..." allow them to explain why you look like him, let them ask how often you get that, blah blah blah. Don't let it bother you, just open up a new topic of conversation and move on.

Don't lose your cool.

I don't see why you fail to take advantage of this. Think of the effortless booty you'd be getting if you simply whispered "Yes, I am XXXX - don't make a scene, I'm having fun tonight... and I would like for you to have fun with me, later". Of course you aren't going to be able to go back to your place seeing as how I doubt it's Dutch Rock-Star quality (if such a thing exists :p) but there's always her bed... Sure, it's corny, and yes the line could be improved... the thing is, it doesn't have to be. It's a sad fact of life that famous pop culture icons don't have to put anywhere near the same amount of effort into getting laid than does the average person...

I met a girl last night that looked 100% like Jennifer Aniston. She wasn't very happy when I said she looked like Sarah Jessica Parker. :) But she probably always gets that. But you could tell she made everything about her look just like Aniston. Why can't people just be themselves instead of trying to be someone else.
