College is horse crap. It has been that way for a while. In the USA and some other developed nations, the college path was overemphasized during the 1980s-2010s. There have been too many college graduates since at least the 2000s in the USA.

I finished my MBA in 2008. That was the worst time ever to finish an MBA. My job search in the aftermath of the 2008 mess was so traumatic.

College and graduate school have not paid off for a lot of members of the Gen Y/Millennial generation and Generation Z members who have pursued college. These are the generations that were overly steered towards going to college. Generation Z got to see how going to college didn't do much for a lot of Millennials. The college educated barista stereotype became a thing with the 2008 economic crash and Millennials taking the worst of it.

Due to the oversaturation of college degrees and the current job market for white collar professionals, it's better to be a blue collar worker right now.

I think more Gen Z males (1997-2012 births) have seen the oversaturation of bachelor's and advanced degrees and many of them have been opting against going to college. Millennial males (1981-1996 births) took the worst of the over emphasis of college trend that went on during the 1980s-2000s. The Millennial generation has been over educated yet taken the worst of numerous employment crises (late 2000s/early 2010s recession, 2020 pandemic, and 2023-present white collar recession). No generation has been less financially stable and less paid relative to academic credentials.
