Krav Maga is legit and fun.... but like Bible Belt said: Japanese JuJitsu is similar... but JJJ adds the ground fighting elements too (BJJ style).
In theory... Krav Maga is a ''technical - Joint - Hybrid martial arts''.... So it goes in 3rd of practice order
1st and 2nd order are Striking and Grappling
Striking = Anything relating punching and kicking (boxing, muay thai)
Grappling = Anything related to wrestling (judo, wrestling)
Technique = 3rd order... krav maga, aikido etc..
Another art similar to Krav Maga is ... Silat (which also has a knife fight section)
Silat = Philipino version of JJJ and Krav Maga.. quite brutal
At the end of the day... Martial Arts is all about the teacher and his spreaching.. (so the teaching)
I did AikiJutjitsu, BJJ, MuayThai, Aikido
The art that was the most useful for me in street scenario/Self Defense was AikiJutjitsu (to break the fall on the ground and get back up in an instant, the choking, the blocking) and Muay Thai (punch stance)
But why are Striking and Grappling more popular? They are simple arts and they allow competition.
You want something Simple, Efficient... Krav Maga is simple and efficient.
Why is the teaching so important? Cause its the teacher and his education.... 90% of what you learn in a gym (no matter the art) will be forgotten in a Street Fight or a Competition or not even applicable
Why 90%? The stress..... stress phases out all complex stuff
Everyone think they can ''handle'' a street fight or a competition.... try to be there and see how much you remember

... if professionnal athlete don't do it well in the competition.... imagine the street level.
Rules of self-defense: Simple and Efficient..... Strike first, Technique after, Run
I've been thinking of picking up KravMaga... but their aint enough gym/schedule that fit for me
Martial Arts/Self-Defense is best against ''non-trained regular people'' and ''element of surprise situation''
Everyone should learn it from a great teacher
