you should note that this is currently only supported by vodafone. so, not in america yet...though hopefully other companies like cingular, verizon, etc will follow

If anything happen, I dont think it would make a huge difference if they contact them. It is too serious.
More meaningful but very long term solution is just to vote for better, smarter top guys who can stop these situations altogether.
