how and where can I do stand ups?

how and where can I do stand up comedy? I love making people laugh. Has anyone did a stand up once and won't mind telling me how they get to do one on a stage and how to find places to do it?

i'm no expert on the subject.

infact, i'm basically clueless.

I know that comedy clubs will have ameture nights. I assume you just sign up.

Perhaps going to a comedy club and asking there will get a better result.

It's tough when you're first getting started.
About the most you can do is sign-up for amateur night at a local comedy club (MOST comedy clubs hold an amateur night).

As you get better you can do some gigs at some social events (example: wedidngs).

Remember: You'll probably completely bomb the first time. Don't let it discourage you too much. Try harder.
