Holy HD PS3!!!

Wow, I went out and bought myself some "surgery presents' on my credit card, a PS3 with Assassins creed and Resistance fall of man, and a 37 inch vizio tv with 720i HD.

Video games have come quite a long way since the old N64 days, and even since the ps2. I got my surround sound hooked up and I just can't believe the graphics on this thing, and the difference from when had my PS3 hooked up to a normal 27".

It's not even 1080i but it just blows me away. Looking forward to playing a lot while I'm stuck recovering from shoulder athroscopy, and holding out for GTA4 and GT 5 before I get another game. What are you guys thoughts? I've played xbox 360 and the Wii, I like em both but for my type of gaming and attention to detail this system is just unbelievable.

af has a ps3 and just got a wii. He says the wii feels like it is for little kids and women - easy and cartoonish. I was not that impressed with the wii. Funnily enough, I had just come from an mma class where we practiced boxing for an hour, then a housewife just beats the hell out of me over and over, because I am trying to do actual boxing moves. Then I figured out to just stand there and play the drums in the air with the two controllers, no skill at all, just a single stroke roll in the air as fast as I can, and then no one at the party can beat me at wii boxing. That was lame.

HD rules.

I've got a brand new 32 inch LCD HDTV Polaroid from Walmart and it rules.

It does 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p and has just about every conceivable video hookup you could ask for. It was a steal at around $500 I'd say because it is of tremendous value at that price when most HDTV's this fully loaded cost like two or three thousand.

My Xbox 360 games like Halo 3 and Mass Effect look awesome in 1080p and I ordered the component cables from Nintendo.com that make my Wii games look even better than they did before on the TV at 480p.

As for Nintendo I'm with Bible Belt about them making things too easy dumbed down and child oriented but eh I love the system for its Virtual Console because I've been able to restore I'd say roughly 40 or 50 percent of my dead gaming library on NES and SNES because of my dad storing the systems in the cold of the garage during winter mistakenly which caused their demise when I lost interest for the Nintendo 64 and because well the nature of the cartridges just caused them to rust and become unusable over time.

Super Mario Galaxy is the best 3D Mario game Nintendo made so far in my opinion. I'd say in the Mario series its at least equal to my all time favorite Super Mario World when you compare them to the different times they were released in.

Metroid Corruption is pretty standard fare and would play better on a Gamecube controller but eh once you get used to the way it plays on Wii its not so bad.

Resident Evil 4 for Wii is the best version of the game on any system. Once you get used to Wii controls well I'd just say even you'd love it more on Wii Bible Belt. I loved it on Gamecube controls but it becomes so much more interactive with the Wii mote because you actually get to point the guns yourself like a real gun at those crazed villagers and at least in my experience it makes the handgun and ammo finally if not moreso valueable than the shotgun and its ammo.

So I think while Nintendo did a lot of good with this system like its durable design, Virtual Console and a collection of good games for it they really should of made it as powerful as the other systems to make it easier for 3rd parties to develop for it.

Not that it matters in a business sense to Nintendo I guess since the Wii is still selling like hotcakes thanks to the new innovation of the controller appealing to old people, people doing rehab, people that have never really gotten into gaming before and the Nintendo diehards themselves buying it up.

Still though I think they could be doing even better than they are if they'd just be aggressive about getting all the same third party games M.$ and Sony get for their consoles and it would be good for Nintendo fans as well since they wouldn't have to spend even more money to get other consoles to play games that they want to play that Wii won't get or can't handle.

I may get a PS3 eventually as I want MGS4 but other than that there isn't much difference in the graphics between it and 360 if any and MGS4 would be pretty much the only game I'd want for it so I just can't justify the cost in my mind unless I see Sony putting out more exclusive stuff I'd like to play in addition to that.

Yeah for the debate b/t xbox 360 and ps3, I think it just comes down to what system you played in the past and are more comfortable with b/c they are both comparable with most games and graphics on a HDtv.

BB.. yeah I heard that "showtime boxing" or the other wii boxing weren't all that great. I remember playing the first fight night back in the day though for hours with my roommate, and screaming and yelling at each other throughout. fun times!

By the way hows the MMA training going man? At this rate I will be at lightweight too, I've lost 17 pounds of mostly mass since i had to stop lifting and am at a lower weight than I wrestled in hs!! Looking forward to getting the surgery out of the way, rehabbing, and then getting a fresh start at one of the good MMA gyms down here in S. fla, probably ATT or Xtreme couture. The thing I miss the most is just putting on some gloves and training with my buddies in the backyard, there's just something magical about that sweet science of moving, intuition, striking, and counterstriking.

Not to hijack my own thread... So has anyone else got some good recommendations for PS3 games besides the usual top sellers? Any other good ones coming out?

Kontroller thats a sweet price for that polaroid, I like the picture on the polaroids alot, I tried to get a 40" but they were sold out. Good thing because the 37 fit in my honda by about a half inch. I like the Wii alot too, theres one at my parents house, my lil bro plays it alot but I think it is better motion/ movements(obviously) at the price of graphics.

Btw i heard about people rehabbing shoulders with the wii and considered it for that lol. But 650+ or whatever walmart is asking was a little too much, but I got my 37" for 750 and my ps3 for 399 so it worked out well !

Well its not exactly new but I can vouch for its quality...

So without further ado I'll say if you love RPG's definitely pick up Oblivion.

All the expansions are out for it now, I of course have them all and can say with authority that they rule and I have beaten them all. My personal favorite of the expansions was probably Knights of the Nine while Sheogorath from Shivering Isles is my favorite NPC in the game and one of the best new videogame characters to come around in a long time. I guess a distinct Sean Connery accent and a predisposition to madness will do that though heh heh.

My friend got a 42 inch LCD HDTV from Walmart also I believe. Anyway 37 is pretty sweet too.

As for your comment on why the Wii's graphics are dumbed down all I've got to say is...

So thats why they did it huh? Makes sense I guess considering its an entirely new tech they still have to get the hang of. Makes me have faith that in the next gen Nintendo will return to better graphics.

My buddies girlfriend wanted one just a few weeks or days ago and I think he told me they managed to get the last one.
