Yikes bro. Thats a big change lol. The McConaughey look seems like its maintained with little product. But based on your hair type, Id say you would need more product for it to hold, especially in a club since it can get hot.
My hair is wavy, but when I sweat, or am near the sea it happens all the things I described, becomes much curlier, loses volume, looks greasy.
I also have oily skin and still have some mild acne, so it must contribute to that, perhaps it´s time I take accutane...
Id say give the matte stuff a try that someone else mentioned. You do need something with good hold. However, if you are just a dude who naturally gets a good bit of scalp sweat, itll be hard to prevent losing your style when in a hot club. It also wouldnt hurt to take a dryer to your hair after putting product in it.
My homeboy would do this and itd help really seal and dry the gel into his hair longer. You cant go overboard though since you dont want your hair to be stiff, crunchy and dry feelings. But Id say other bros here would have better info on this, since Im just providing second hand accounts for your hair type, since Im a black dude with different hair.
But the apple cider vinegar and castille soap will help for anyone looking to cleanse and clarify a messy head. My scalp stop getting as dirty and oily once I started the vinegar rinses. And itd help reduce any flakes I would get too.
Regarding accutane, Id do your research on the side effects. I read enough things that turned me off to it, so I never tried it. I still have acne myself in my mid 20s. What helped cut it down was lots of water, less oily junk food, and a strict cleansing regimen. Go to acne.org and look up "the regimen". And then hit up the store and buy your face stuff.
I use the Clean and Clear line for my regimen. Or I get the store brand copy of Clear and Clear....like the RiteAid or Walmart brand if its cheaper. And two good tips from the acne.org forums which helped me were;
1. using apple cider vinegar as my post wash astringent, instead of witch hazel. Apparently the acidity and other good stuff in apples helps even out skin tone and promote healing. So after I wash my face, I use the ACV on a cotton pad, and then I do the benzoyl peroxide cream and moisturizer after.
2. Adding a half of a cap full of pure lemon juice to my water throughout the day. So whenever I have water, theres lemon in it. (id advise using a straw, since the acidity isnt great to constantly have on teeth enamel) Supposedly the properties of the lemon juice help push impurities out of the body. And Im talking about pure 100% lemon juice. The really strong kind you use to cook, not the stuff we drink in a glass with meals.
Hope this helps. As a fellow acne sufferer, I know that feel bro. Diet and sticking to your cleaning regimen are huge. I noticed that cutting out junk food, chocolate, and carbonated drinks really cleared up my skin. Cutting out coffee is supposed to help too, but I need my jo'.
All this said, your mileage my vary, but acne.org has user reviews for many products and methods. Id say give what I said a go before trying accutane. And if all else fails, accutane could really help you. It works for some, and not for others. Everyones acne is different.
