"She Liked You in March. It's October Now."

Attraction runs on a clock.

She flirted for weeks. Touched your arm. Found reasons to be alone with you. And you were careful. Respectful. Waiting for the right moment.

The moment had a shelf life. It expired around month two, and by the time you asked her out, she'd quietly filed you under "little brother."

One of the hardest lessons inside the 22 Rules: women rarely wait. Interest either grows or it decays, and nothing decays it faster than a man who never moves.

Make the move while she's still inventing reasons to be near you.

somewhere around mid-3rd quarter this past school year, i met a guy who called himself Five. from him, my friends and i have learned of that which is the purest essence of don juanism. Gusto. gusto, in it's purest, is the act of going for what you want. it's the kind of thing you have to go for on your own, because it won't come to you.

this concept wasn't entirely new to me, as i've already been a member of this site for just over a year and a half or so. however, just having that little phrase held in mind ("Go for the Gusto") seems to help me greatly. every time i'm going for a gap into traffic, it comes to mind. when i wanted a certain really hot girl to sign my yearbook on the last day of school, it came to mind. when my parents were becoming too much for me to handle the other day and i felt like i had to get out, it came to mind.

somehow this phrase alone seems to give me a new kind of power. the kind that makes me feel unstoppable. because of this, i've become much better in all social aspects in my life. until this, i had little problem talking to girls i was attracted to, but when it came to making just new friends with either gender, i could never think of anything to say. now, in just the past month or so, i've just about doubled my number of friends, all the new ones being from an entirely different school.

so now, when you see that hot chick walkin towards you at the mall, and you really want to get her number, forget the three second rule, forget those pick-up lines, forget the formulas for conversation, and just focus on that one phrase. maybe it can do you some good too.

"You'll Never Feel READY to Walk Over"

Next Monday you'll feel more confident. After the gym you'll feel more confident. After one more drink you'll feel more confident. After you get a better haircut, a better jacket, a better job.

You've been "getting ready" for two years.

She's standing ten feet away right now. She'll be gone in four minutes. No amount of preparation will manufacture the courage that only comes from moving your feet.

Walk over. Stumble through the first sentence. Let it be clumsy. Let it be imperfect. You will feel more alive in those ten seconds than you have all month.

You should always go for what you want. I've always lived by that phrase. Because if you don't go for something that you really wanted, you'll always wonder..what would've happened if things were different?

Kevbo, this is really an awesome thing to think about. Going for the gusto has really changed the way things are. It's kinda of silly that it takes a phrase to do it, but the way we learned things from 5 just made it seem so simple and fun. I don't really know how to explain it, but kevbo you know what i'm talking about. It's kinda of an inside thing, but i think that the benifits can be attained by anyone. I'd just like to say, going for the gusto has made me a better person. May the gusto be with you.

"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.
