"She Liked You in March. It's October Now."

Attraction runs on a clock.

She flirted for weeks. Touched your arm. Found reasons to be alone with you. And you were careful. Respectful. Waiting for the right moment.

The moment had a shelf life. It expired around month two, and by the time you asked her out, she'd quietly filed you under "little brother."

One of the hardest lessons inside the 22 Rules: women rarely wait. Interest either grows or it decays, and nothing decays it faster than a man who never moves.

Make the move while she's still inventing reasons to be near you.

OK, thanks for checking out this thread.

here's the situation. the chick that im into leaves for a semester abroad last december. we would hang out maybe twice a week for about two-three months before she left. before that we would hang out at a mutual organization that we were involved with. so ive known this girl for about almost two years now.

so we are talking online a lot sending messages and what not. she finally calls me some time in april, international. im geeked out, i finally realize that infatuated (maybe, in love. . . ) with this girl.

I write her a message telling her that i like her. it gets a negative response. I write her back and explain myself. it is cool. but at the same time, things are different between us, she doesnt write back as much, but the messages are deeper, like some loveydovey ish. I don;'t know if she is pulling my chain or she really likes me. . . .

so she finally gets back to the states, but not were i live and she finally calls me. we talk for a while, it is cool. but were she is staying, she is chillin with her ex boy. she talks some **** about him or whatever. i talk a lil **** too, but not too much.

she gets back july 7th, i have about three weeks to get my **** straight. im a lil out of shape, i want to know what is some good exercising to do. also what kind of diet will make me feel better.

I also, don;'t have a job, and my crib is disorganized. i think that i am picking her up from the airport and she is going to crash at my place. . . .so im not sure what game to run. do i try to get all passionate with her and hook up. do i play it cold, like she has been doing to me - even though i know that she likes me.

i know i gotta get a job, because im in deep **** financially.

im a lil whipped over this chick, yeah, i hooked up with other chicks while i was gone, but now that i know that she is coming back, i want her.

what would you recommend for the next three weeks. obviously besides getting a job, which i HAve to get this week. exercise and diet are always important, but what are some quick exercise to tone up. im not fat, im more skinny but out of shape.

also, she is a really sensitive girl so you should know that when you respond.

so what's good? how do i play this situation when i pick her up from the airport and if i talk to her on the phone to have her into me the most?

"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.

It would seem to me you are in the friendship zone. 2-3 months hanging out without making a move is far too long. Try name dropping a chick, see how she reacts. Play it by ear.

As far as excersize, head over to the H + F forum.

ya we are in the friend zone, but i like her anyways, how do i get out of that? is it possible.

i know what you are saying about chicks. she asked me about if i had a girlfriend, i said that i had hung out with a couple of chicks but nothing too serious. . . maybe i should have flipped it. . . 3 weeks. . . how do i play it now?

When you said you liked her and then received a negative response. It's pretty much over. Sorry man. You have dug yourself a deep deep hole and its unlikely that you can get out of it.

I'll come back later and answer any other questions you may have. good luck.

"The Coffee Shop Girl You Never Spoke To"

You've replayed it a hundred times. She stood three feet away, scrolling her phone. You had an opening. You composed the perfect line — after she was gone.

For all you know, she's married now. To some guy who said something. Anything.

Openers are cheap. Almost any sentence works when it's delivered within three seconds. The expensive part is the standing there, drafting and deleting, while the window quietly closes.

The "22 Rules" stripped out my hesitation. What to open with, how to keep it alive, and the one habit that costs guys more women than anything else: waiting for perfect.
