i was looking at some magazines at a bookstore and i could'nt help it.
i looked over and i see this chick , she was sipping on
a soda and was scanning over some music mags-
she had a faux hawk- (mini-mo hawk)
and was artsy fartsy looking but really really hot/cute.


so i walk over and i don't know what came over me..

"i REALLY like your hair-
it makes me want to put you in a bird cage and feed you
animal crackers.."


just a blank stare

i smile...

i go to shake her hand and she hands me her empty
cup with ice still in it...

"next time, try being nicer and maybe i would give you my
number- 'slick'..." *wink* ,recovering quite nicely while
walking off seemingly unfazed.

damn , i froze.. i did't know what to say...
so i just smiled and winked at her and turned away as she looked back.
my natural reaction was to explain to her that i was only playing
and joking around...but that would be even lamer then
just smiling at her.
my mind was flodded with a million comebacks but
i could'nt even come out with anything to say.

girls never really had a good or decent come back so i never
had to actually do anything when negging.
so i did'nt know how to deal with it other then giving the best sly
smile i could and keeping cool.
she was cute too.

You weren't congruent with the material. Like you say, she clearly got it that you were running pickup material. (She called you "slick" and said maybe I'd give you the number if you were nicer - she knew what you wanted). Have you ever seen Mystery's DVDs - his delivery is totally congruent. How you say something is MORE important than what you say.

You say there was a silence, in this time I hope you maintained eye contact and didn't get nervous. Also, you say when you went to shake her hand, THEN the silence ended and she gave you her drink. Trying to shake her hand was totally incongruent to busting on her. This signalled the TRUE intent of your line. (Who shakes hands with chicks anyway!)

Negs are designed to break rapport before you build rapport. This chick is a a BOOKSTORE - not a club, and on her own. This is a whole other situation to an SHB10 in a club who has her b1tch shield up and her hot friends around her, with every guy coming up trying to build her a drink. Then you DO need a neg.

And the delivery of a neg isn't followed by a chance for her to respond to it! Hell no. Because there is a good chance she is going to be pissed! (Mystery invented negs and this is his teaching). You turn away and talk to the other SHB next to you, or make a comment to your wing etc. (Clearly not an option in your case, making it an even less appropriate time to use one).

Her response was testing the strength of your frame (of reality). The game was up at this point, she clearly wasn't intimidated or buying your act. Busting on her more or being more ****y wouldn't have budged her or impressed her.

I'm actually quite impressed by her response and the way she handed you her drink.

i did everything congurently..i just was left speechless because eventhough i had a million and one things in my mind, i was too
clustered from soo much material that i internalized when she caught me off guard.

it's like a Karate master getting sucker punched and hit
hard while prancing around trying to figure out a strike.

like i said it was such a spur of the moment, but when i
actually stopped to think , i froze and was like "duh.."


she gave me a chance when she looked back and smiled
as she walked off..but i was still tounge tied..:crackup:

i was really quite amused by the entire incident,
looking back there were a dozen different ways of
re-opening her, but i decided to just smile.

i guess it backfired and i was the one left feeling an intense
attraction! boy my heart was racing :crazy:

You would have gotten farther with just..

I like your hair. Then ask if she does it herself. Then go from there. Close with a number. Or see what she was reading material wise and game off that.

I think you will get alot more out of this forum if you show a little humility and realize that you are an amateur. There is no shame in that.

Your opener was too forced and out of context. Save your negs for situations when chicks have their defenses up. (club, night game)

Daytime game has different rules. Loner chicks by day are the easiest pickups. Just be friendly, open and make interesting conversation. It's okay to drop a neg or to, but you have to engage her first and spark a vibe.

I commend you on your courage for opening. A lot of guys here can't even do that. But also advise you to really feel out the situation at hand. Just cause it seems like a funny neg in your head doesn't mean she will think you are clever.

Personally, I would have used a situational opener...it's a book store for chrissakes, the easiest setting in the world....all you gotta do is read the cover of a book she picks up and comment on it. Chit chat, bla bla, just remember the three R's of pickup
