I tried this just now and here was how it went with a bartender I just met yesterday:

Her: "So what are you up to?"
Me: "Want to go make out?"
Her: "No, Neil, I don't want to go make out" (stepping away from me, and by that point within ear shot of all the other single men at the bar, all of whom I found were smiling WAY too much when they talked to her)
Me: (stoic eye contact)
Her: (stoic eye contact)
Her: (drawing hearts on my to go box with my mechanical pens, for 5 minutes)
Me: "Color them in red"
Her: (coloring in them in red for 5 more minutes)
Her: (walking around and massaging my shoulders)
Me: "See you next time."
Her: (telling me her exact schedule)

And I don't see myself using such direct game without any sly marks like that... This feels more like the "you can do whatever you want because she likes you" phase. I think that phase should be used to be a bit more smooth...

As a general rule, once a man makes his romantic interest known, and the woman keeps flirting, she has accepted him as a romantic prospect (or is leading him on, which can't be ruled out with bartenders but I don't think they usually lead men on enough to draw hearts and initiate touch, etc).

I don't know if this qualifies as a 'pick-up line' but my go to is to walk up and complement her on what ever it is that attracted me to her, ask her name, then ask how she got to where ever we are. Then go from there. Asking a chick how she got someplace will tell you everything you need to know about her... you will learn if she lives in your area, if she came with a dude, how much she is willing to share will tell you how interested she is in you. Years of approach, and practice, that always seems to work the best.
