Imagine throwing a rock so fast that it escaped the Earth altogether. The velocity (energy) you would have to apply to it is called Escape Velocity. It means it has enough power to overcome the gravitational pull of the Earth long enough to break free into outer space.
Walking away from someone you love requires a similar amount of power and energy. To turn and walk away and never look back, to never fall back into the gravitational pull of that body, requires tremendous energy. However, when you break free you will feel all of that power, the way you would if you broke through a cargo net that was pulling you back.
When an object does in fact have enough energy to escape the gravitational pull of whatever heavenly body it is currently on, it goes into perpetual motion. It becomes unstoppable and will remain on that path forever or until it encounters another body.
