Does anyone have any knowledge of how an electrical bill is broken up?? My landlord informed us we have gone over our usual electrical usage the past month, and we may have to pay more. My one roomate has now turned into a ****ing electrical Nazi , screaming at anyone who has any lights on, for longer than an hour. Im thinking leaving lights on, probably isnt expensive at all, and is probably actually minuscule in the electrical bill. What else consumes alot of the electrical bill? i need some firepower to tell him leaviing lights on isnt a huge deal

If you currently have too many women chasing you, calling you, harassing you, knocking on your door at 2 o'clock in the morning... then I have the simple solution for you.

Just read my free ebook 22 Rules for Massive Success With Women and do the opposite of what I recommend.

This will quickly drive all women away from you.

And you will be able to relax and to live your life in peace and quiet.

I have a roommate like this. We don't use lights at all until after 5 each day.

Cutting them off and not leaving tvs etc. on can help slightly. The main use probably comes from an air conditioner

Central air is a huge consumer.
Swamp cooler not as much but still probably biggest consumer in a house.

Lights have a wattage rating. A 70 watt bulb draws 70 watts of power.

Power is billed in Kilowatt hours (KWH).

If you were to run 10 100 watt bulbs for one hour, you would use one KHW.

Go ahead and do the math on all the stuff you run.

Do you have access to the water heater? If so check and see what the water temp is set on if it's in the middle or set on high lower it to its lowest this alone will save you a bundle and of coarse the air conditioner can be set a little higher instead of lower.

Do you use a dishwasher? If so wash them by hand you'll save big..

Basically just make a list of the things that are in use and unplug everything thats not in use like a toaster, blenders things that are not necessary to stay plugged in and turn off the computer when it's not in use as well like when you go to bed.

I live in a 1900 sq foot home and I managed to keep my bill down to $162 bucks and I have had it as low as under a hundred by doing these small things.

Also remember our energy cost are up higher too so the things we took for granted before need attention.

Hope this helps

Plasma TV, desktop computers, electric stove, electric water heater, air conditioner, fridge & freezer.

And then there are the vampire electronics. They suck power even when they're supposed to be off.

ask your landlord for the actual numbers and what your limit is supposed to be. also, are you renting an apartment or a house?

the main thing that shoots up an electric bill is air conditioning, which is why power outages are more prone to happen in the summer - the load increases and the power grid gets stressed beyond capacity
