Decided last week that I wanted to dress a little nicer/metro look. Some things I bought

Timberland Dress Shoes $93
Armani Exchange Sweater $60
Armani Exchange Jeans $115
Express Khakis $40
Express Dress Shirt $40
Banana Republic Belt $30
Banana Republic Jeans $75

I don't really have a style but it'd be like baggy Tommy Hilfiger clothes. I'm starting to wear Jeans and shirts that fit, and people have been complimenting me mainly because they never noticed I was built in my old clothes. Sorry if it looks like I'm a brand *****, but I'm feel good in them and the ladies notice. Going to be working during my Winter break and trying to get more.

Yep, it's definitely expensive if you have to use the fame of a designer to make you attractive and popular. That's the price you'll have to pay, literally.

you dont need to spend a lot of money

dressing nice does not require spending a lot of money, you can usually get brand names at 50% or more off if you shop at stores like ROSS, MARSHALL's, even MACY's has lots of end of season and clearance sales, I just bought a nice shirt at MACY's that was regular priced $55.00 on sale for $7.50! shop wisely, I never pay full price for clothing, I just wait for sales and clearance, I just bought some summer clothing on clearance to wear during next spring and summer.

$115 for jeans! no way, you can get something that looks similiar for 1/2 that price

I think clothing is much cheaper now than it was before, everything eventually goes on sale, past season etc. that doesnt mean it goes out of style though.

I bought some nice POLO men's leather belts at ROSS for $19.99 each, the original price was $145.00! no way would I have bought it for that price and another canvas and leather POLO belt for $12.99 regular price was $30.00

In your head
"It's the man wearing the clothes...."

But the clothes are part of the advertising. Like it or not we usually judge a book by its cover. Why not maximise the chances of your target wanting to check out the awesome story within?

You do not need to look to buy brands do look good. If you can afford to look like a walking billboard then so be it. A subtle logo here is much better if you want to go down that route and a lot cheaper. Remember it's there just to enhance their perception of you (until you open your mouth to charm the pants of them).

Otherwise wear what fits well and go for the style that is in your zone.

And you, Steve Urkel if you don't know what you are doing, try bringing a chick along, she can tell you whether your pocket protecter looks good with your plaid and corduroy pants.

I'm planning to go to TJ Maxx type of stores for dress shirts. Pants though are real limited in their selection/size so I guess I'll be looking out for sales. Today this was my outfit.

I got 3 compliments today from girls walking around campus. The clothes make the man? I have the same personality, body, and face as last week, why are girls noticing me now? I understand what you guys are saying. Wear what you want and be yourself, but the results show that girls don't feel the same.

I'd rather buy 5 jeans for that price. No one ever told me I look like a bum.

There's nothing stupid in buying expensive clothes if that makes you feel better.

It's not my money, you can do whatever you want with it.

It's the same thing with eating expensive, or driving a nice car. It's not required, but it might make you feel good.

Me, I prefer expensive but neutral clothing. I can't afford it all the time, but once in a while i do. Spend $200 on a pair of jeans one year ago. I still wear them, and girls are still giving compliments.

The trick is to dress nice, but don't give a damn about it. :) Same thing with your hair, or your look, and almost everything.

Clothing and dress tells a lot about a personality and a persons interests... to think it's simply a matter of $$$ is wrong

Fashion in general is an interest... now I don't buy the magazines, watch any of the contrived programs where guys without an ounce of dress sense get made over but what I do do is stick to a couple of small boutiques who have a few staple Italian ranges, (Energie, Sixty) and then bring in a number of up and coming ranges which exhibit that same individuality... I constantly get comments about my clothes which I turn into convo and progress into more in the cases where possible

As it happens a lot of the girls I attract and really progress things with are those who are studying fashion, art or some design subject who look for the same thing in clothing, and we get on (and fvck) like a house on fire because we share that same common interest... the way we both dress immediately allows us to single each other out as not only potential based on looks, but based on a shared interest which is quite apparent, and in turn you're distinguishing yourself from a whole lot of other good lookin guys who dress very normally who Miss X would have to actually talk with first to find out if any common interests are there!!

Just buy some cheapass fakes. They feel the same, look the same, and the quality isn't much different. Maybe they'll rip a little earlier, but the price: quality ratio is higher.

They're expensive because you're buying expensive clothes, genius. If you go to the right store (like Kohl's), you can get really nice shirts in the $20-40 range, and perfectly fine jeans for around the same price. $100+ for jeans is absolutely unnecessary, and you're just throwing money away for brand name, as well as rips and tears and semen stains or whatever, as is the style these days.

I've also got some nice shoes in the $40-60 range at some of the shoestore chains.

You're a sucker, dude.

I got some Express jeans for 17 bucks at Ross. I wore those, a Spongebob shirt, a 100 dollar leather jacket from Target that I got for 70 due to sale and employee discount, and 117 dollar shoes that I got for 52 dollars today. Basically greaser except for the spongebob shirt - and she ate it right up
