"You'll Never Feel READY to Walk Over"

Next Monday you'll feel more confident. After the gym you'll feel more confident. After one more drink you'll feel more confident. After you get a better haircut, a better jacket, a better job.

You've been "getting ready" for two years.

She's standing ten feet away right now. She'll be gone in four minutes. No amount of preparation will manufacture the courage that only comes from moving your feet.

Walk over. Stumble through the first sentence. Let it be clumsy. Let it be imperfect. You will feel more alive in those ten seconds than you have all month.

Let me tell you guys this story as quick as I can...

I was working at my friend's restaurant as a waiter(helping out, family business) and these 2 nice looking women come in to eat. I greet them, take their orders, and just perform my regular server duties.

I felt a little awkward b/c I was working, but I thought what the hell, I might never see these girls again. One of the girls was very attractive and we seemed to be sharing a secret attraction of some sort.

Well, the girl I was not particularly interested in got up to go the restroom, and the hot one was by herself. I went up to fill her drink and we started talking. She said she was kinda new to San Diego(yes, where a lot of chicks are very superficial, but she seemed kinda cool..). I built up a rapport with her so as to "set myself up".

At the end of the meal, I asked "So did this satisfy your Italian restaurant needs? They said yes, at which point I began asking the other girl(the one I was not too interested in) a few questions about herself to build a little comfort. Then I came out with it, I said "Well since you guys enjoyed your dining experience so much, I'm going celebrate the experience by giving you the oppurtunity(at this point I'm reaching in my pocket for pen and paper, and begin focusing on the hot one)to leave your phone # for me."

I was obviously talking to her, and at this point I got her name, then her friends, and gave them mine. They thought what I said was hilarious, and were laughing. The hot one, said "Wow, that was slick!" and I smiled and walked away. This is when I was dropping the check.

I went back to give them there cards and receipts and she hands the piece of paper I gave to her and says, "How bout you write your # down.." I looked at the piece of paper and she hadn't written her # down, so I say "Not until I get yours!" keeping it light.

They sat at the table for about 15 minutes talking, making comments to me, and stalling it seems. I went back up to her and said "Number?" and she said "Not until I get yours" and I said nope, smiled and walked away.

Then the phone to the restaurant rings and the server says, "you have a phone call". I let it sit for a few minutes then picked up the phone. It was her calling from her cell phone! She said, "Are you going to give me your #" and I said "what good is that going to do...I'm busy!"Then she said, "well, were leaving soon..." and I said, "ok, bye!!".

So they ended up leaving and she didn't leave her # and I didn't leave her mine. I felt completely confident the whole time. What exactly happened here? I know she must get tons of requests for her # b/c she was really hot.

It shouldn't have been that hard. It seemed as if she wanted to control the situation, but who knows. What do you guys think? Was I being unreasonable or was she? Maybe I had too much "dj pride", who knows, maybe she did too....Oh well, tell me what you guys think. It still felt good though....peace basbhat

"She's Out of Your League"

You've said it a hundred times. Maybe a thousand. And every time you say it, you train your brain to freeze the next time she walks into the room.

Leagues are a myth invented by guys who are scared of women.

She's a person. She has bad breath in the morning. She picks songs she can't sing in the shower. She overthinks her own texts.

Walk over. Say something. The league dissolves the second you open your mouth.

Yeah, now that I think about it, I'm kind of mad at myself..

She even wrote my name on the piece of paper for me(all I had to do was write my #, give it to her, and then get her #!)

Maybe I got caught up in my own little game, but I thought maybe she thought she was super hot, and was seeing if I would bend...Women!!

I would've given her the number at that point (when she called the restaurant). Sounds like that was a major move and she wouldn't have done it if she didnt really want to call you.

Perhaps she had a bad experience giving her # away and thus preferred it to be on her terms. I can see how this is inconsistent with DJ theory in general but it couldve been interesting to see where it goes.
