Hi,

I am switching from Option B of the "Where to Start" thread to a 2-day split routine I found on IA. In another thread, I was advised to take some time off since I did the same routine for two and a half months straight, almost.

I was wondering how long I should take off befor ehitting the gym again. I figure a week is a bit on the long side, but at the same time I don't think I should rush myself if my body has to et used to a whole new workout.

Any thoughts?

It depends...when's the last time you've had a week off? You've just been working out for 2 1/2 months?

There are many ways to deload.

You can drop all your weights to 80% for the full week.

You can also drop the number of sets you do on every exercise to say one set, but maintain intensity and try to hit PR's.

These are the simplest. From your other thread, I would recommend you to do the 80% one. If you are feeling really beaten up, you could take a week off, then on the week you return do 80%, and then the week after that start going heavy.

Good luck with the IA routine.
