Evening All,
Just a quick one to firstly introduce myself and say thank to so many authors, commenters and bloggers who have assisted my return to freedom these last few months. Too many to mention, but particularly those here at SoSuave, over at The Rational Male and Chateau. The resources are invaluable.
My Don story in short: alpha 16-22, probably reaching a sound 40-50 count up to the age of 25 (no exaggeration, and I know others who have achieved greater abundance in shorter time); screwed (over) by three different older women in my late 20's; now a recovering-beta/former alpha as results.
Anyway, I digress. My musings today have me wondering about a 'creative' and/or thespian game plans and ideas guys have about dealing with the 'creatives'/pseudo-artistes that seem to be taking over night-living, especially here in London (full of 'media' types, creative/arts agencies etc etc, blah blah blah. I fortunately have a real job). I give you a couple of hypothetical examples:
-The constant need for posing with banal props (why only this afternoon, I 'skipped' a chick on OKC for posing with a pumpkin on her head - you're 33 love, not a toddler any more).
-The regular need for 'dressing-up', theme nights, make-up, face-painting and any other such attention-seeking behaviours; these are dramatically (often literally) being perpetuated by beta frustrated hangers-on and other such effeminates, hoping for a boner-defying spooning between 4 and 6 the following morning. It is also starting to creep in to the older pop (35+), as they all attempt to compete for the same attentions.
Now allow me to qualify with a couple of real world/fictional examples:
-My best friend from school was seen on FB the other week, having been 'made up' by his GF as a little girl (complete with lipstick and a bow in his hair). This is a guy who, when we were 16, broke a curved window pane with one, single, punch. No exaggeration. The GF's caption below the photo was 'I love this man so much' (for letting you make him up like a little girl....??). Srsly..... He and I are not as close as we once were.
-I was watching 'Public Enemies' last eve Jon Dillinger (Jonny Depp) gets all awkward when his soon-to-be chick asks him to dance when they first meet; the reaction of many men (I don't mind dancing, in fact I have an abnormal amount of rhythm for a white man; I just usually need a bit of Dutch Courage).
What I mean is whatever happened to just sitting in a pub/going to a club (in our normal clothes/Sunday best), slowly tying one on for an evening, flirting around, bantering, engaging in the odd discourse and getting hold of someone after a few hours of unforced fun? Why the props, fancy-dress, make-up?
Am I getting old? Am I dull? Does anyone think/experience the same? Do I need to engage in this? IS there any way of engaging without leaving my testicles in my 'man-bag' for the evening? (NB. don't even get me started on man-bags)
Any ideas?
