I don't think anybody could make this 5hit up...

This person is running for mayor in Toronto. She's never invited to debates, and got escorted out when she tried to attend anyway. She paid the media to run her ads, but they refused and returned her money. She tried to sue the media for breaking the law, but the judge threw the case out of court.

I'm absolutely blown away that this 5hit happens.

That's pretty ridiculous. Third party candidates have been treated in a similar manner when trying to debate in the USA; however, their advertisements weren't denied by the media. Judge just threw her case away, that's pretty messed up.

Faith Goldy, (the lady you are referring to) got something like 3.4% of the vote. Sharon, who was running on a more social justice platform and reaching out to poor/disenfranchised/Blacks got 2% of the vote. Faith Goldly is like the Donald Trump of Toronto. You already got a right-wing conservative premier (Doug Ford), and he posted a photo shot with Faith Goldly along with the police. It would be nightmarish if someone like her won as a mayor with 51% of the city is non-white. Yet, John Tory, the current mayor who won twice so far had a 3% vote when he first ran, which means this lady is still a viable threat.

However, unlike the United States, we don't have to register to vote. You just show up with your driver's license or whatever ID you have and vote.
You don't have people just being purged from voter rolls like you do in the States. Fortunately, despite whatever I wrote, all the above candidates are still fringe candidates and didn't register a blip in the overall election with such a low vote. It does symbolically show that there are some racist elements within the city that are alive and well, like a cancer, despite this city being over 51% non-white and being one of the most diverse and multi-cultural places to be in North America. She even getting traction of 3.4% doesn't look great for the health of the city.

Sounds like the US and its two-party cartel system.

Third parties candidates are vanity candidates. If you can't get >=50.01% support, you don't deserve to govern. (see: definition of runoff election)
