Background checks for jobs

Ok so i went to this interview on sunday and they told me that basicly im hired pending the background check.
The manager said that if i dont hear by him on tuesday which is today, that means that i didnt pass the background check, i had plenty of jobs before but this one hasnt called me back yet and it is tuesday.

My question is what do background checks consist of ?

I have never been arrested never been in any trouble with the law, so why is it that he hasnt called me back yet ? maybe he calls tomorrow?...

They'd do background checks on you. Checking for crimes, etc.. Traffic stuff may come to hunt you. If you have a lot of traffic on you that might tell them something about you. Then immigration, etc, etc..

Simplest thing is to enter your name in google and see what comes up. It's not a background check, but they could check other things via that.

You can brag to them that you were a scientist on South Pole once and achieved this and that, then setup several troll sites with fake credentials describing your adventures. Search engines will index that along with your name. Once your employer enters your name into google it will come up saying that you did this and that.


I have a security clearance with state police office in Tallahassee. Too bad I never got to use it. If your employer wants to hire you then background check whatever is no problem.

I've worked at airports for the last four years, so I've been through a million background checks. Those were primarily to make sure I wasn't a terrorist though.

If they haven't called you it might have to do with you not mentioning something that showed up in your background. Something that might not even be a deal breaker if you had have mentioned it before. I had to write down what SPEEDING tickets I had gotten.

They even do credit checks to work at the airport now, which makes very little sense. I guess if you have bad credit they assume that (since I bypass security every day) I would let a terrorist pay me off to sneak a bomb on a plane? If that is the case it's incredibly stupid, but it's the only thing I can even think of sense I never handle money or passengers' personal information.

I went for a job interview. They did the background check. Said they would call me 3 or 4 days later. They called me 3 weeks later and offered me the job.
