What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.
You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.

It's usually people who becomes theologian, that uses to "date alot" than had a calling from "God" and now they teach how to old yourself until marriage.
And than marriage is a union with god
Than sex is for kids... so they all have 5 to 7 kids.
They also prone that God is the object/common goal of the couple.
A common goal/being of the same communication level is KEY to ANY LTR SUCCESS. (In their case they put God in it)
If the "no-sex before marriage" worked so well... we wouldn't have a hookup culture.
I don't know how society is currently in a bad mood...
Broken homes aren't fun... but so is living with someone you hate
Marriage is outdated. Plain and simple.
Change always freaks people out. They like to cling to the past because it feels more "safe". Truth is.. change will happen anyway. People who adapt will thrive and people who cling to outdated crap will fall hard.
Kids will be born, grow up and contribute to society whether people get married or not. There has always been more than one way to skin a cat. Kill the drama. Marriage is trash unless you're dirt poor or very old like over 60.

Millenials save marriage? Not likely, they don't have the role models in place to do it.
I was fortunate in that I grew up in a family where my mother and father had a good marriage, and they raised x number of kids. Because of that, I can see the value of the nuclear family - I know the value. But modern society, feminism, The Pill, the court system, and moral decay has destroyed marriage in today's culture. It just isn't a good investment (for men, at least) in this day and age.
Most guys here, and most millenials, never grew up in a nuclear family with happily married parents, so they will never see the value of it. It's unfortunate.

Without getting too far off topic from this thread, I would agree that this has been my experience as well.
To get into the weeds a bit, I would say that the person has to have a deeper personal faith connection in their morals. The further one is off "course," the more likely they are to stray or be "tempted". Everyone has a button to press, its a matter of figuring out how and what lever persuades them to betray their own personal code.

According to Statistic Canada:
Catholics and Atheist have the lowest divorce rate
Protestants have the highest divorce rate
How you decide which religious group you are etc...is personal
Ex: you were baptised catholic as a baby..but you never went to church, read the Bible... etc. In short you did nothing "catholic" but still consider yourself one out of Tradition.
Also, how "religious" are you?
Many religious/conservative/ethnic are still believer of the "no-divorce" once married to protect your family honor.
I've meet extremist catholics who were the same.
It's the group the author of the article belongs to.
Marriage is to honor God, have sex and sex for babies.
Zekko comment was pretty good. Millennial can't save marriage since marriage as no more society impact...and most don't have role models.
My date is from a extremist catholic family almost got to 20 kids... yet they had no "family happiness especially between parents" but the kids are united and don't know what's being lonely. They were scar
I grew up in a single child family with a happy unmarried couple.
My vision of marriage seems more happy than the one who follows the rule book
