Applying for this job i badly need!

Two questions came up during the application process that I am slightly unsure of how to answer.

1) What do you believe are the key skills and behaviors to demonstrate when interacting with a customer?

2) How do you ensure you meet your individual or team targets?

Usually, i would have no problem in answering these questions, but the job is for a well known brand and must have many applicants so i would like to answer as well as possible.

I applied for a job before by filling out a questionnaire and did not get past that stage, thats why I'm asking you lads to help me out .

I'm guessing these are fairly common questions asked by companies; so a few of you guys could hopefully help me out, I would greatly appreciate if you did .

I could probably give you a common sense reply to Question #1

Dealing with a customer:
-Confidence, that you know what your talking about
-Knowledgeable about the product(ties in with the first one)
-Friendliness
-Understanding, completely listening to the customers issue, asking questions to show your understanding

I think you should specify whether you are a applying for a customer service type job, or a sales job. I'm not sure which kind of customer you are referring to

Its a sales adviser position where ill be asked to help customers find products and provide a service which meets the customers needs.
