I think that most are hilarious. Especially the "primitive shelter building" ones. Especially if the guys are lugging around huge backpacks full of gear. Why would you have all that stuff and not have efficient shelter with you? Why be out there without proper gear? Cause you're stupid?
Very little is more important to carry than proper shelter and sleep gear, when you're in the bush. Also nobody ever mentions the most vital 1/8th oz of "gear", which is time-release Ambien!
Reliably, quickly getting enough rest every night is vital to long term sustainability, and until you really are "set up" properly in a "homestead" sort of thing, you're going to have trouble getting that rest. The sleeping pills are so helpful and of such a small amount of bulk/weight, they should rank at the top of your list, as to value/hassle.
