I woke up very early today yesterday around 5 or 6 and took a drive to get some Tacos and Donuts, and this song popped up on the radio. It was being played in a retro radio station and it was very catchy. I checked it out and it was performed by Hall and Oates, a duo back in the 80's. This song was made number 1 for four weeks back in 1982. The music video is also pretty well done, so I decided to analyze this song for fun. It contains some pearls of wisdom and a warning for all young men.

Here are the lyrics to the song:

"She'll only come out at night
The lean and hungry type
Nothing is new
I've seen her here before
Watching and waiting
Ooh, she's sitting with you, but her eyes are on the door
So many have paid to see what you think you're getting for free
The woman is wild, a she-cat tamed by the purr of a Jaguar
Money's the matter
If you're in it for love, you ain't gonna get too far

[Chorus]
(Oh-oh, here she comes)
Watch out, boy, she'll chew you up
(Oh-oh, here she comes)
She's a maneater

(Oh-oh, here she comes)
Watch out, boy, she'll chew you up
(Oh-oh, here she comes)
She's a maneater

[Verse 2]
I wouldn't if I were you
I know what she can do
She's deadly, man
She could really rip your world apart

Mind over matter
Ooh, the beauty is there but a beast is in the heart

[Chorus]
(Oh-oh, here she comes)
Watch out, boy, she'll chew you up
(Oh-oh, here she comes)
She's a maneater
(Oh-oh, here she comes)
Watch out, boy, she'll chew you up
(Oh-oh, here she comes)
She's a maneater

[Instrumental Bridge]

[Chorus]
Ooh
(Oh-oh, here she comes)
Here she comes, watch out, boy, she'll chew you up
(Whoa-oh, here she comes, watch out)
She's a maneater

(Oh-oh, here she comes, she's a maneater)
Ooh, she'll chew you up
(Oh-oh, here she comes)
Here she comes, she's a maneater
(Oh-oh, here she comes, watch out)
She'll only come out at night, ooh
(Oh-oh, here she comes)
Here she comes, she's a maneater
(Oh-oh, here she comes, she's a maneater)
The woman is wild, woo
(Oh-oh, here she comes)
Here she comes, watch out, boy, watch out, boy
(Oh-oh, here she comes)
Oh, watch out, watch out, watch out, watch out
(Oh-oh, here she comes, watch out)

Yeah, yeah, she's a maneater
(Oh-oh, here she comes, she's a maneater)
She's watching and waiting, ooh
(Oh-oh, here she comes)
Oh, she's a maneater ".

Notice, how the song starts with " she only comes out at night", it's like the epitome of every young guy who goes to a club/night club or social setting and sees a hot vixen. He's smitten by her but don't know the potential pitfalls of that possible fling. Then in the first verse it said, "
Ooh, she's sitting with you, but her eyes are on the door
So many have paid to see what you think you're getting for free
The woman is wild, a she-cat tamed by the purr of a Jaguar".

I think it's basically stating that you always have to pay for sex and that she's not yours and it's just your turn with this type of woman. It also means to use good judgement when trying to find a suitable mate. This was made back in the 80s where it was more family oriented back then mind you. I guess were talking about the Miami type of lifestyles that existed back then.

Then there's the chorus - "
(Oh-oh, here she comes)
Watch out, boy, she'll chew you up
(Oh-oh, here she comes)
She's a maneater
"

I think it's pretty obvious and explanatory here what it's stating. Screen your woman. It's a warning that she could potentially ruin your life and assets. It's even more important today as more and more men are being screwed by the divorce courts with the mother taking custody. So screen your women before you go into a relationship because she's a Man eater. Another thing altogether - is to avoid places exhibiting toxic behaviors like ghetto bars and clubs.

Now here's the one of the last verses:

"She's deadly, man
She could really rip your world apart

Mind over matter
Ooh, the beauty is there but a beast is in the heart".

This is also self explanatory and obvious. The message is the wrong women can lead you into the path of hell...,literally. You have to pay for it in so many ways. It's very symbolic here. Like I stated above, it's usually intense physical attraction. The lesson is to learn to be in control your emotions and be sexually disciplined. This is why I practice things like No Fap, taking cold showers every day and doing martial arts/ kick boxing, just to have that edge ya know.

The wrong woman like a hot vixen at a night club can be a potential land mine waiting to explode. She will literally lead you to a path of hell if you don't have the wisdom and discipline and use good reasoning. What's your take on this song? I want some of the old timers here point of view. Cheers.

25 "Let not thine heart decline to her ways, go not astray in her paths.

26 For she hath cast down many wounded: yea, many strong men have been slain by her.

27 Her house is the way to hell, going down to the chambers of death."

Proverbs 7 :25 - 27

It was sang by the band Guess Who not Led Zeppelin. I don’t blame you for mixing them up, they got similar sounds.
I don't think those two bands sound alike, but American Woman is very similar to Zeppelin's Whole Lotta Love.

American Woman isn't about a woman. It's an easy metaphor for America, mostly its foreign policy. The Guess Who sang it; they were Canadian.

Consider the lyrics:

I don't need your war machines
I don't need your ghetto scenes

I remember getting my hair cut like woah 20 years ago? sooner? and the low-end cutter saying, "I don't like that song!" it was the black dude's version of American Woman, my memory fails me atm.

Tacos and doughnuts don't typically go together. This has me curious. None of the responses yet have addressed the song itself. Hall and Oates were talented musicians. While there were women who behaved like what the lyrics describe in the early 1980s when the song was written, this behavior became more commonplace after 2000, when ratios became more favorable for women and technology could be used to further enhance their own market values.

Notice, how the song starts with " she only comes out at night", it's like the epitome of every young guy who goes to a club/night club or social setting and sees a hot vixen. He's smitten by her but don't know the potential pitfalls of that possible fling. Then in the first verse it said, "

Night game was not easy in the 1980s, though it was easier then than after 2000. Sitting with you but eyes are on the door is a reference to hypergamy, though I doubt Hall and Oates knew about the word hypergamy then.

The Miami type lifestyles of the 1980s can be lived by almost "cute" or "hot" woman now with an Instagram page or one who uses a swipe app. This doesn't even take into consideration the women who can leverage technology well to get money from OnlyFans. The OnlyFans populace of women is smaller than the Instagram/swipe app populace.

Then there's the chorus - "
(Oh-oh, here she comes)
Watch out, boy, she'll chew you up
(Oh-oh, here she comes)
She's a maneater
"

So screen your women before you go into a relationship because she's a Man eater. Another thing altogether - is to avoid places exhibiting toxic behaviors like ghetto bars and clubs.
Women behave at their absolute worst when they have no pre-existing connections to you, which is becoming more common now. In the early 1980s, the bars were the most common place where this happened. Where you meet a woman and your pre-existing connection to her matters. In the last 15 years, women have treated men that they've met randomly through websites and apps the worst out of any possible options. When a woman meets a guy on a swipe app and she acts bad (flakiness/rudeness), her social circle is not informed of her behavior. While women will be rude to men they meet in bars, both in the 2010s and 1980s, her friends will still know more about it than they would know from swipe apps.

I have experienced some surprisingly bad behavior from women I met in grocery stores and at gyms/fitness classes. I have been astounded by this since I had the courage not to swipe and text them but meet them in real life. I also met them in real life when sober and not at a bar. The number of men who can approach women sober at a non-bar venue is small.

The same women might be in the bars and grocery stores. Your approach might stand out more in a grocery store or other non-bar venue than it would in a bar.

If you meet a woman exercising at 10-11 AM on a weekend morning or at the grocery store around then, it is likely that they weren't at the bar the night before. This indicator is less reliable than it was due to COVID changing nightlife.

Building a life around the wrong woman can be devastating in divorce court. One of the best ways to avoid the worst of women is to not have kids with them and not put a ring on it. While it's not an ideal solution, you do avoid some really bad stuff while getting some pusssy.

Now here's the one of the last verses:

"She's deadly, man
She could really rip your world apart

Ooh, the beauty is there but a beast is in the heart".

Mostly accurate. You're doing the right thing with nofap. No porn and no fap is the way to be but those behavior must be combined with healthy eating, exercising, and in-person approaching (or social circle building) so as to get laid. It's more difficult to keep no porn and no fap going without getting regular vagina.

Maneater, according to Hall & Oats, was not actually about a female, but the City of New York. How the city chews you up and spits you out because it's a tough city to survive back then. This was also when NYC was near bankrupcy and there were dozens of murders every day.
