The bardo thodol
They say it's very quick light, that's a first bardo, transition between life and death. The light is yourself, but not many capable of realizing it.
Then comes second bardo. Creatures. Which also are yourself and they can't hurt you. But many get scared.
What they are describing is very similar to that what is described by those who had near death experiences.
