I just finished reading the Pook chapter "Attention *****s" . It brings up the notion that men dream of highest respect and women dream on their wedding day. I immediately thought of the teachers I had who were old maids. Now my younger self who did not trust anyone over 30 figured, they are not sexual beings and not fully human and that is why some women become nuns. Of course that is not the case. Now I don't know the stories of these teachers of mine but I wonder if you could speculate. Do you think they just had bad luck? Do you think they wanted to marry? If so, did they do anything wrong?
I'll give you a little more context. I remember the day I started college at age 18. I went into that day with a perception of reality based on stereotypes that did not exist and thinking I had everything figured out. If I experienced stress before that day, I don't remember. I am not 38 and have learned many realities of not just women, but people in general. And I still have a lot to learn.,
