  • A good comedian approaches every crowd, with the possibility of being booed out but covers it up and appears confident so the audience won't sense his fear
  • A good comedian says a joke and remains unaffected by the audience's response, he is not seeking approval of any kind
  • a good comedian always has something to say. He can not be on stage and hesitate
  • Even if the comedian has pre-written jokes. He does not memorize them word for word, he guts them. He may also improvise on the spot at any time
  • he occasionally picks fun at the audience members. And they continue to find him entertaining!
  • he does not take himself too seriously, and doesn't take things personal.
  • he does not expect to become a legend overnight, he practices! First on small crowds then works his way up
  • He can change the topic at any time and the audience won't care, or even notice. He does not force himself to stay on one topic if it is not working
  • He conveys enthusiasm in his entire act, and will vary his voice, and speak very lively
  • He does not expect every joke to make them laugh, but he tests them out and see what works and does not work
  • In the end he has endured failures, awkward silences, boring crowds, but it all paid off in the end.

" I have only been funny about seventy four per cent of the time. Yes I think that is right. Seventy-four per cent of the time." -Will Ferrell

"All you have in comedy, in general, is just going with your instincts. You can only hope that other people think that what you think is funny is funny. I don't have an answer but I just try to plough straight ahead." -Will Ferrell

" I know that if I wasn't scared, something's wrong, because the thrill is what's scary." -Richard Pryor

"You have to have lived some life. You've got to have paid some dues." -Richard Pryor

"You need haters. What the **** you think a hater's job is. Too Hate. So let that mutha****a do his job" -Kat Williams

"I don't think human beings learn anything without desperation. Desperation is a necessary ingredient to learning anything or creating anything. Period. If you ain't desperate at some point, you ain't interesting.

"There's new territory, there's new places to go, new things to explore. Why stay back there? ... " -Jim Carrey

And yes this IS about pick-up. :)

"She Liked You in March. It's October Now."

Attraction runs on a clock.

She flirted for weeks. Touched your arm. Found reasons to be alone with you. And you were careful. Respectful. Waiting for the right moment.

The moment had a shelf life. It expired around month two, and by the time you asked her out, she'd quietly filed you under "little brother."

One of the hardest lessons inside the 22 Rules: women rarely wait. Interest either grows or it decays, and nothing decays it faster than a man who never moves.

Make the move while she's still inventing reasons to be near you.
