2 weeks notice?

I have secured a job and am currently weighing the advantages and disadvantages of leaving a 2 weeks notice. I am a key employee at my current job and know upper management will be pissed off to no end if I leave. I do not forsee them being reliable references in either case. It is a sales job so I am 99% sure they will fire me on the spot to protect their customers' accounts. I also plan to leave everyone at the company a $5 Starbucks card and a personal thanks for everything note and expect good references from my co-workers.

I do not feel like giving my employer the upper hand upon leaving who will most likely torture me to no end.

I'd say that you have it figured out just about right. I hope that the new job lets you clear about 50% more, without having to do overtime, to make up for the hassle.

you can start a miniature company from your bedroom, you can work at your new job during the day and run your company during the night, ad time? well delete your facebook account and allocate that time to your business.

i don't know about you,but i don't like the idea of sitting on a chair and watch as my boss gets richer every day while i have to save for a new microwave oven....
im willing to throw away my current career for the sake of my own business,
my parents and friends aren't that happy about it but who cares?
filling teeth for all my life isn't as exciting as i thought it to be...
