1st field report, at a Party, Grade Me

This is my first ever field report, which "first ever" seems to be a reoccuring theme with me these days . Anyways, I went to my first party last saturday and I must say it wasn't as bad as I expected it to be. I actually had a pretty good time.

I showed up at the party with 4 other ppl. I was nervous as hell, since I didnt really know anyone there, so I just tagged along with one of the guys i came with. Right from the beginning, my friend is macking these 3 girls and I'm kinda at a loss of words on how to contribute towards the conversation. One of the girls notice how I was being anti-social, so she told me i needed to take a drink. So that clued me in that i need not to be so uptight.

Then I start forcing myself into the convo, asking random BS. After a few mintues my friend leaves me with the girls alone and i begin to run out of things to say, so i go to the bathroom to regroup. When i come out, i dont recognize anybody and i start to panic. Cuz i dont want to be one of those ppl who look like an outcast not talking to anyone. Also i notice a HB9 eyeing me whos being literally surrounded by 5 guys. I assume she was interested in me, but i'm not going over there to fawn all over her like the rest. I wanted to somehow pull her away from the pack, but wasn't sure how to do it and even if i did, i would run out of stuff to say. (also i was acting like pvssy, with the thought of going over there to talk to her).

Then i see a crowd of ppl gathering in a circle. Some guy is breakdancing in middle, so i chill there for a bit, until i can figure whats gonna be my next move. A few minutes later i notice a HB8 with some weird boots, so i question her about them and she goes on a bit about how she pick them out and what not.

Using some tips from the bible, i ask her about where shes from, school, how she likes it there. It seemed like she was really into the conversation, but as usual i ran out of stuff to say. So yet again, i excuse myself to the bathroom to regroup(its sad, i know). I get back and some other guy is talking to her, so i move on to another area of the party. Then out of nowhere some HB6 hooks her arm around mine. I'm startled for a sec, when i was about to say wassup to her, some guy pulls her away saying, "what you doing to my girl". And they go off to another area of the party.

To cut this story short. Since i was having trouble keeping up a convo with the females there, i decided to just chill fellas for the rest of the time.

Can anyone tell me what i did wrong at the party, or any tips for next time. Cuz ive been invited to 2 more this weekend.

Hahah, i feel sorry for those two

Anyway, next time, have a drink. Or five. It'll help you loosen up a bit. Of course, if five gets you drunk, have 3. I need about 15 to get really drunk, so that works.

Anyway, you made a big mistake for going to chill with the guys. The *ONLY* way to fix this lil problem you're having is PRACTICE. Eventually, you'll develop ways to never run out of things to say. The good news is that you should just let the chicks do most of the talking anyway, so all you really have to do is pay attention to what they're saying and keep a few topics on the back-burner so to speak.

Build on what they're saying, ask em about it and move on from there, then jump back to something you were discussing earlier. I sometimes have like 3 conversations at the same time and they love it

Not to mention that you're showing intelligence and ability to listen, they're giving away tons of valuable info, and you're giving away nearly nothing, and raising their IL level by being mysterious.

i think you did good.

it will take time to be totally comfterable and on your game in public places like that, but you took the first step in getting your feet wet.

remember when talking to women don't be thinking about anything else but them. you have to want to get to know them, you have to be sincerely interested in them and what's beneath their clothing to get there. feel them when they talk to you dont just stand there like a damned idiot.

Yeah, but its always about balance. If you act like you're 'sincerely interested,' you better believe that you'll come off as needy. So you gotta be interested, pay attention, but don't always give her attention. Let her enjoy it for awhile, then take it away and look someplace else. Push and pull

Thanks for the replies. But in that one situation where the HB9 was surrounded by guys, how do i get a chance to talk to her?
