Man saw these 12-year-old girls (and a few guys) smoking at the train station. Remember those days when you were kids, and smoking (or drinking, or finding porn) was so exciting?

Those were the days

Still I find it a little disconcerting to see kids doing this stuff to be cool, even if I did it myself.

it makes me laugh, because my brother (17) started a couple of months ago, but he just smokes when there are people he wants to impress:)

i'm not a conservative guy at all... i drink far more than my friends, but i don't do it to impress them. i drink because i enjoy the feeling of being drunk (i sometimes drink when i'm alone too)

i sometimes also smoke pot, but just because it's funny when everybody is high

i think that the most pathetic people are those that smoke normal cigarettes just to impress friends, i'd never do it

anyway, i remember some 8-yr-old kid at my old elementary school that was a smoke-addict and his parents knew... the fact is that family wasn't trailor trash at all, they were average-upper class people

Smoking can have some social benefits. While people who are extroverted tend to smoke for stress management, people who are introverted tend to smoke for social grace. Smokers bond together, they are an ostracized group and find it a relief when they find a fellow smoker. When someone is seen smoking, people go up to them asking for a smoke or light and quite often full conversations instantly blossom. They bond like good friends and without the usual cold walls people put up, no leary eye of “Why are you talking to me?” We live in a rather impersonal society where strangers don’t talk to another and smoking gives smokers some warmth. This is why some people are only social smokers, it’s not so much as if they are trying to “be cool” but that they are drawn to the benefits of its social connectivity and have not yet been hooked enough to need to smoke at other times.

Oh, . have you guys heard about "smirting"...

Combine the words smoking and flirting, and you are, essentially "smirting". In those countries where the smoking ban (at restaurants, clubs etc) has come into effect, this phenonoma has developed... as people go out to smoke, EVERYBODY's a friend ;)

Simply walking up to a chick and asking for a light is a darn good opener nowadays...

*walks up to a chick* "hey... wanna go out and.... smoke??"

PS. Oh, and to get a bit more on topic, I started smoking at 19 y.o. during my time in the military. darn good stress reliever when you're trying to keep order among 50+ morons acting LIKE 7 year olds....

I will usually smoke a good cigar every once in a blue moon or when I'm hammered but I won't touch cigarettes.

1. To this day I think I was fired from a job because I didn't join the "smoking clique" of my department.

2. I've thought about a way to make money from underage smokers - take a cellphone pic of them and say, "I just took a picture of you and I'll send it to your parents if you don't pay me a 'deletion fee' to forget about what just happened."

Might work just as well as my "rent-a-guardian" business at the movies in which kids pay me to be the "adult" that takes them to R-rated films... :)

(OK, just kidding about that last part...)

Mmm... I'm a full time smoker. Been smoking since I was 14, and havn't taken a break since.

True, it does have it's social benefits - with other smokers. Non smokers (and even smokers, sometimes) often find the smell repulsive. :-/

You smokers out there: always carry breath mints and a free cologne tester. :)

And all you young kids smoking @ 3am while sticking your upper half out of your bedroom window, ashing into a plastic bottle half filled with water... heh... you're sad sad mo'fo's. :p Just tell your parents you smoke! :-D

smokers high

I smoked weed first and my friends enticed me to smoke by telling me about the dizzy feeling you get when you take a drag too fast(the same one you get when blood rushes to your head) I couldn't get enough of it... I'd stop smoking for a week and start again just so I could get the rush:) now I'm hooked:(

Is addiction/dependence(sp?) a turn off?

Can you be all you can be while being dependent(Prime AFC turn-off) on substances?

I don't see how smoking and stinkin up can be attractive overall, maybe as a fetish albeit an undesirable fetish.

I know I love the smell of fresh smoke when I'm makin out and inflating lungs is a huge turn on for me.

Does anybody know what sort of things can be addictive without us knowing it's harmful? Smoking wasn't linked to cancer until this century(1905-2005)....

Well a lot of things are addictive. Computer games, sex, tv, music, sex, reading, and sex.
