They are making it so annoying to carry these days. If you defend yourself you will still probably have to spend tons of money for defense. Also in my state they make renewing and getting your CCW a super pain. It takes months are you have to take a 16 hr class plus applications. It makes me want to move down South.

Trying not to. Most people just don't get it. ANY politician or governing powers on ANY side of the fence stands to gain from disarming citizens. And they'll be the only ones who gain from it and everyone else will lose. Nearly overnight.
To OP: If you're not keen on every state's laws, start becoming a regular pursuer of knowledge in that area. There are several northern states that have better gun laws and legislation than their southern counterparts. There are some southern states with HORRIBLE legislation. Examples are Montana Vs California and Vermont VS Virginia. Although you're pretty fair in stating that overall the southern states boast friendlier experiences for a carrying citizen.
HB and SB in your state are on the states website. ALSO, you would be wise to look up the laws in all neighboring states. Like it or not, that will have an effect on things as well. (EDIT*** SB refers to Senate Bill and HB House Bill. We use 'HB' on SS for something entirely different, although I must say, my model .586 is a HB9!)
My major rant on carry or this topic in general is the misplaced assumption that gun nuts or just average gun owners are dumb and uneducated. You actually need to be MORE knowledgeable than others. Crossing the state line with anything I have other than bolt action or a revolver means I'm now a felon. And there's no "Oops I didn't know" leniency.

C02 projectile shooter when at higher power is very effective. In most locations its legally a different model, yet used properly can stop pretty much anyone. Pepper shots sound silly, but also gets the job done. Pepper followed by a rubber ball at 40+ Joeles is effective. Head shot can still be fatal.

Yeah,Queensland has far more generous Laws,but here it is the
Shooter who is registered and who wants to move a thousand miles to own a Rifle?...And Plumber,under our laws even a Kids Spud Gun is illegal...
Luckily one of my Sons got me an Ancient BSA Single shot...I put this to good effect recently on a Goanna more than 5Foot long who was causing Mayhem
amongst the Chooks.
