Thought Experiment: What if you saw a hot guy walking with a hot girl?

I'm curious of what the general observation would be seeing this out in the wild. I'm talking a genuine good looking guy with a good looking girl. The majority of couples are actually lopsided in who has the "power" in a relationship. That is why usually either the man is the good looker or the woman. When the man is the one that looks good, the woman is usually a bit more average. When the woman is the good looker, the man can range from almost her level, average, to downright ugly (old).

Personally, I'd think they are just really good mutual friends using one another. Or competing with each other.

Reason I asked this is because often people look at couples who may have contrast of appearances, and go "Hm, guess one of them is compensating somehow." But when it comes to really good looking people, I'm curious where people's thoughts go when they see two of them together. Not talking two average people being equivalent. But two hot man and woman. That has to make people blink a bit. Like seeing two rare birds. Personally, I would find it very odd.

I got it. Well then it's a mixture of a little bit of admiration and jealousy. For a few minutes max.

I think nothing of it. And I see it very often, I live in a highrise I can see couples walking around all the time. I also see it a lot at my gym. Usually it's fairly obvious when they're dating and who holds the power.

I know it when I see it. In the way they interact with each other, physicality, body language, who is paying more attention to the other person, etc.

I argue it can be detrimental and stressful for both. At least the woman will be causing the stress.

So the normal qualities of following the lead. That's good to hear.

As long as the woman perceives herself lower than the man, she becomes as meek as any other woman. This is adding to my hypothesis that men are the true gauge for value and attractiveness [value is part of attraciveness too]. And if anything, she keeps hot so she can stay with the hot guy.

Most couples are similar in attraction or within 1-2 points of each other. Men do a terrible job rating men, so it always seems like it's a hotter girl with an uglier guy to us especially if she has on makeup while the other guy is just out looking normal.

Usually they're the same. Before social media, it used to be more skewed in favor of men. No accident it's changed.

"If Kim Kardasian can get any man she wants, I can too!" Sounds about right.

I think that they make a good match and am not surprised by the pairing. I don't think anything more and I'd be concerned if I did.

This isn't overthinking. It's analysis. Having introspective thoughts is not a bad thing to do as a man. It's how we get smarter and stronger.

While I can agree with this, the problem is that it can be one step away from a lot of the weird beliefs and ideas espoused on here when ofttimes the explanation is very simple and has already been stated in this thread: people can simply just like each other and are of a similar attractiveness. Water seeks its own level. It's not really anything more complicated than this a lot of the time.
