I just read this post again; I recommend you all read it at least once again yourselves.

I cant say if TRULY "supernatural" or mystical forces exist... my acutely skeptical mind craves logic & science, and rejects anything else as unacceptable or unthinkable. To my mind, mysticism has acquired a bad reputation and negative connotations, maybe through a collective ignorance or through media distortion. But even received much more prosaically, merely as a HUMAN, earthly declaration, this post is powerful, and I sincerely thank you for taking the time to affect even a hardened critic like myself.

Doubting Thomas may doubt no more...

Great Post. I'll give it 5 stars.

However I don't understand why masturbation is psychologically damaging unless you feel guilty about it. I certainly don't! What psychological basis do you have for this?

Maturbation itself is not necessarily a bad thing. But you have to realize that when it becomes routine, it's very much an addiction. And as with all addictions it has roots in the subconscious. If your find yourself doing it all the time you should be asking yourself why. It feels great I know but that is no excuse.

Besides, you need that sexual drive! Everything we do including creativity itself is a sexual expression.

Consider the following

------------------------------

Source: Transforming the mind (book)

All expressions of love are essentially sexual expressions. Sexual energy is not limited to the physical act of sex alone. The energy of sex is sublimated as creative energy at any and every level you find yourself in the universe. Energy travels between positive and negative poles. Indeed, every ascent of consciousness is, in this sense, a sexual process. Sex and love are a fusion, a coming together of thought and feeling and body, the synthesis of masculine and feminine, and this is the essence of creativity. Any creative act is a sexual act - from the writing of a book to baking a cake, from designing a bridge to painting a picture, from a love affair to playing a musical instrument, from a discovery or invention to raising a beautiful family. When all creative acts are interpreted as sexual, sex is no longer expressed at the expense of someone else but may uplift and illumine all concerned. Sex, then, is not necessarily limited to ‘genitals’, despite appearances that we are living in a genitaloriented culture, but all creativity is essentially sexual expression at its highest level.

----------------------------

You see your sexual drive is rich energy that could be directed toward useful tasks. It's a shame to waste it over a porn mag.

I dont want to spin this off to a buddism topic, but if you know of any, could you give me a few links to introductory stuff at all? It'd be greatly appreciated.

This was an awesome post, coupled with a film I watched last night, it's making me do a hell of a lot of thinking right now.

Wise beyond your years, Cleric :)

Thanks DJBen

If you want to learn about Buddhism I'd say your local library would probobly contain a wealth of information. But to get you started here's an interesting book. I'm not sure if you've read it or not. It's called The science of Getting Rich (PDF, may take a while to load). It's a very good guide to the laws of the universe. It's philosophical explaination of the nature of thought in human affairs is very enlightening. I read it every once in a while. It's of course a guide to getting rich and at first glance does not seem to have anything to do with Buddhism but what you have to realize is that the core philosophy and essence of all religions takes you to the same place. A place where all the laws of this universe become clear and enpower you.

These laws are by no means limited to a handful of Moks and Priests. Throughout history, great people, from Alexander the great to Nepoleon and Andrew Carnagie have all drawn power from the same source. There is another wonderful book called Think and Grow Rich . This one has been written by Andrew Garnagie's desciple Napoleon Hill. This book is full of wisdom and taps into the same source of infinite power. It's been written 100 years ago by the cooperation of people like Carnagie, Rockefeller and Edison.

And if you want a little Mysticism this is a good website to get started. If you are really intersted, reading the material on this site can leave you wondering too. The Mystic.org

After these sources the best way to go is to follow your own curiosoty and intuition. Libraries are great places. I spend a lot of time hunting around in them.

Good luck

Oh and ahh, forget the myth that spirituality calls for self sacrafice and the abandonment of wordly pleasures. This is a myth spread around by institutionalized religion in order to control the masses. Spirituality is about finding a balance in body, mind and spirit. You can be a billionare and still an enlightened Mystic. The Science of getting rich will shed much light on this.

Tell you what. You can work out and sit around watch as much porn as you want. But when it comes to facing the fear of rejection we will see what happens to this so called confidence.

You are telling people to overcome their desire of beautiful women by watching porn. How can you overcome the thing you desire by indulging in it. Its like say a crack addict can ignore crack by being given a warehouse full of it, since has so much of it, he won't want do it so much.

Also I can see a couple of you guys sitting around one day and seeing some woman you really want to talk to you. You'll feel that rush you that makes you afraid and you are going to say "Uh oh I'm not confident enough to approach her, I better get back to my basement and watch some porn and hit the irons." Because you will have basically spent all your time sitting around lifting weights and watching porn that you forgot to actually try approach women and talk to them. Certainly some of you will be real dissapointed when you do attempt an approach and it doesn't turn out like the porno's you have spent all your time watching.

Look the excitement of approaching a woman and putting my DJ skills and charm to the test is one great rush. I don't want to try to deaden that feeling otherwise its no fun. Or deaden any feelings a may develop along the way in a LTR. Confidence comes from the times you do close and the times you fail to close but gave it your best shot.

Look just don't take anything personal when things with women don't work out. Forget this whole mystic garbage, you guys even messed up the interpretation of Buhhdism in this matter. Try reading it close next time and you'll see that Buhhdism is about seeking nothingness in ones self by REJECTING the distractions of material world. Example Fame, money, petty politics are things that distract, and porno too of course. This is the famous deattachment everyone here seems to be screaming about when try to close an HB. Immerese yourself in your desires like a deep pool of water and you will drown in it. Step away from your desires and deny it and you will see it amongst the greater scheme of things, like stepping away form the pool to see the garden surrounding it and the waterfall the feeds the pool. Once you can see life in the greater scheme of things your desires become controllable because you realize what is important.

I'm sorry that I must disagree with this Tip. I feel it will only lead to a backslide for those formative DJs that come here everyday as well as act as a escape hatch for those who find being a DJ to tough and decide to hide behind the new line that is sure to come "I'm still building my confidence, I bought some more workout equipment and my shipment of Porno is being overnighted as we speak." None of you need any of these fancy tricks, none of you need Pook, you just need to put some faith in yourself and the balls to try. Tell me I am wrong that so many new AFCs here do nothing but post the same things, asking questions and begging for help every step of the way. Thinking that there really are rules and there is some ritual that has to be adopted otherwise they will never be good with women. Nothing against any of you, its just the way this tip strikes me is all.

*nods* wise words indeed Mr. Fox

However I dont feel this was intended as a 'buddists look view of DJing'. It's just that it's how it sounded, and I took the oppertunity to get some buddist info while it was seemingly on offer.

I agree with you, Grey Fox, but I can see both arguments. I believe, or it's how I see it, that this post is geared towards a general and more positive way of thinking. That instead of watching porn, jacking off, and wasting your time, you can use it to motivate yourself and find a way of self control. instead of rapid hand movements for five minutes, you're out there improving your body.

Instead of wondering why the girl isnt taking it in more holes than you thought were possible, you could stop and think 'Is this really worth watching when I could be out living and actually DOING this with someone?!'.

I saw it as a way to turn certain things into a positive point of view, and to use more objects and actions as motivation.A chance to impliment change or a new outlook on something. Almost like using something you already had in your possesion to better your performance in something else - gaining the pleasure you had from it before, and then gaining the rewards from it by using it in a different way to enhance something else.

And I see this post as a rather messed up jumble of how I found the post. Which hopefully, at some level, you can make sense of o_O

Either way: Thanks for those links :) It's greatly appreciated

I never said porn itself brought confidence. The biggest source of confidence I said comes from achievement and the acknowledgment of those achievements. Approach any psychologist and ask them about the validity of this method and you will never get a negative answer.

The second factor, I mentioned, was testosterone. Your testosterone levels actually increase whilst watching porn. Again, ask any doctor this and they will confirm it.

And as far as fear of rejection goes, that is an entirely different cup of tea. But you can't say that a little more self confidence and testosterone pumping in your veins won't go a long way to help you conquer it. Besides, most people here have a workout routine anyway, all I did was add a pleasant flavour to it.

Now as for Buddhism. You are right. Buddhist Monks do seemingly reject pleasure. But that is because they are aiming for the ultimate goal. Being one with the source of all existance. The biggest pleasure of all. So in reality they are not rejecting pleasure at all! They are sacrificing baser pleasures for a much greater one!

But for the rest of us who don't plan to live in a temple all our lives Buddhist methods can still be very powerful tools. No one can ever deny the fact that quitening your mind, and taking control of your own thoughts and destiny is a bad thing. When I wrote this post I never meant for it to be about women alone. All I wanted to do was to somehow tell people that they are really much more than they think they are. The only thing that stops us from being living gods is our own thoughts and invisible boundaries that we place around us.

Awesome stuff

I must agree with everyone so far that has said this is an awesome post.
Now, I'm not into the buddhist spirituality stuff (even though I am Christian) but I agree 100% with what your saying about your mind can control you and make you succeed or fail. I'm also reading Andrew Carnegie's "How to Win Friends and Influence" people. Have you read that and if so, what do you think of it? Do you reccomend it?

Like I was saying though, most of your barriers are in your own mind. The only thing I don't really agree on is the whole watching porn bit. Aside from the possibly benefits of raising your testosterone, it usually makes me feel more dirty and perverted and I view women more as "sex objects" than human beings. Which is why I try to veer from hardcore porn and masturbation
---Btw, I agree with you about what you said about masturbation. I must say though, if you aren't having sex at all it takes a LOT of self-control to NOT do that. Longest I've gone is maybe 2 months but if I'm not trying to control myself and NOT do it..usually do it about 1 or 2x a week.
Now maybe this isn't true for everyone but I find that looking at women who are scantily clad or in seductive poses can have the same effect without making me feel so filthy after watching blow his load all over a woman (Of course this might have more to do with the porn I'm watchin)

But everything else I agree on, especially working out. I believe improving your physical self can go a long way to improving your mental state. Initially, you get that temporary rush of endorphins and testosterone which usually boost your confidence and energy for a few hours. Even better though, is that you get the more permanent long-term effect of looking/feeling better about yourself and being stronger, but women should start noticing you too, which will give you more self-confidence.

David Icke opened my eyes to something very simillar to this in his documentary " Secrets of The Matrix" .

He talked about how we are all connected to the same conciousness, and that we can tap into this power but our minds set up barriers to keep the power out.

This is a wonderful post.

I wholeheartedly agree with the section about the more knowledge we get and advice only cripples us. It's so true. Somedays, I'm too focused on a strategy and become more of a robot than when I'm not thinking and just let myself go on "auto-pilot"

5 stars, man!
