I like to make mix CD's. I always fit a theme to every Mix CD that I make. So I have decided to make a soundtrack to the 'end times'.

Rock, pop, country, old, new... I don't care. I am planning on putting atleast one Cash song on there-- "When the Man comes around". And maybe even a 'Slayer' tune, or two...

I need help comming up with some ideas. If you know of any apocalyptic themed music, or even quotes out of any movies that I might use in between the tracks, please post your suggestions here.

Check out the soundtrack to the movie End of Days.

Also, the song "Oh My God" (I think that's the name?) by Guns N Roses is awesome.

Yeah, thats a great Guns N Roses song. There are some songs on the "Natural Born Killers" soundtrack that I like, too. Not sure about an 'Arnie' movie soundtrack, but I'll check it out.

Here is the list so far:

Bad Moon Rising - John Fogerty
Stripped - Rammstein
Mad World- Gary Jules
Enema - Tool
Everything Dies - Type O' Negative
It's the End of The World - R.E.M
For whom the bell tolls - Metallica
28 Days Later Theme - Gorillaz
Raining Blood - Slayer
Do the Evolution - Pearl Jam
Don't Fear the Reaper - Blue Oyster Cult (more cowbell!)
When the Man Comes Around - Johnny Cash
Who'll Stop the Rain - Creedence Clearwater Revival (maybe)
Fade to Black - Metallica
The End - The Doors
The Sound of Silence - Simon and Garfunkel (last track)

I want to use a quote from the original George Romero film "Dawn of the Dead" Where Ken Foree says "When there is no more room left in Hell, the dead will walk the earth."

Any more suggestions?

-Back in two weeks. I'm off to see my Girl for Christmas. :D

Depehce Mode - Enjoy the Silence
Depeche Mode - Freelove
Morrissey - Sing your Life

Also, about your qoute. Theres a band I know that uses that "Where there is no more room left in hell, the dead will walk the earth" sound bit as an intro for their song.

The song is called "Abyssal Creation" by Through the eyes of the dead

Check it out, maybe you'll like it

OK, now this one is quirky and...personal I guess.
"Dear Mr. Fantasy" by Traffic (Steve Winwood).
Nothing to do with the End Times, per se.
Everytime I hear it however, I think of the End.

You need the song "East Hastings" by the band Godspeed you black Emperor.

Its the song used in 28 Days Later at the beginning where Jim wanders around the abandoned city.

Its a very apacolyptic song and in total is 17 minutes 58 seconds in length.

The part that is used in the film starts at about 9:50 in I think.

I love this song, but I've already put it on several other mix CD's. Same thing with "White Rabbit", which my girlfriend wanted me to use on this one... I just really don't think it fits. I might actually do away with the Linkin Park song "The End" simply because I've heard it so many times... but if you guys know of something really "out there" that would work, I'd love to hear it.

Maybe something by Beck?... I can't think of any off the top of my head.

Thats actually really cool, but way too long. I have to make all of this fit onto an 80 minute CD, and still fit in a few movie/media quotes for effect (which, if you can think of any cool apocalyptic quotes, I'd love to hear em'--even stuff from the Bible, I don't care).

“First, there was the collapse of civilization. Anarchy... genocide... starvation... when it seemed things couldn’t get any worse, we got the plague. THE LIVING DEATH. Closing its fist over the entire planet. Then we heard the rumors, the last scientists were working on a cure, that would end the plague and restore the world. Restore it? Why? I like the death... I like the misery... I LIKE THIS WORLD!”

Cyborg starring Van-Damme. B-level action flick from the 80's, the voice over quote opens the movie. Kind of a fun brainless flick, worth a viewing.

A modern variation of it opens Judgment Day by Method Man, both are good, though Fender's voice in Cyborg is too cool. .

Cool, I'll check it out. I love Method Man, too. I'd like to put some more rap on here, just can't really think of anything. Judgment Day will be added, though. Thanks for the input.

People Who Died by Jim Carroll band! awesome.

I browsed through my music directory, here's some thoughts:

Have you heard Street Spirit by radiohead? it's softer than a lot of songs you have on your list, but still hopeless, and centered about inevitable death and destruction.

Time by Pink Floyd is extremely bleak. It addresses death indirectly. It's one of my favourite songs, a true gem about inevitable disappointment and death.

I love Dont Fear the Reaper's inclusion.

Rap is tough to find songs that fit this theme, the first that popped into my mind was Crossroads by Bone Thugs, but that's probably softer than what you're looking for. Unfortunately rap has pretty much gone down the toilet these days.

I don't know if you have the capability to lift the audio from youtube videos but here are some apacolyptic quotes from the most evil videogame I have ever played and the most evil videogame villain I have ever faced in battle that of course being Eternal Darkness's own Pious Augustus...
