Who do you think was the best James Bond? James Bond seems to be the model of character to be followed on this board, but who is the actor that most people take after?

I think the top 3 would most likely be Sean Connery, Pierce Brosnan, and Timothy Dalton. Well actually, I'm only saying that because I haven't seen all the movies and those were the only Bond movies I've seen with those guys as the main character. Though I think most people are going to pick Brosnan.

While I say that, I'm seriously considering Daniel Craig in the conversation. He doesn't have that traditional Bond look however, he brings this much more aggressive and impatient character to Bond that people aren't really used to seeing. And his grin has this more dominating effect than the past Bonds who give more of that playboy type vibe.

Though for now until Quantam of Solace is released, I'm going to have to side with Brosnan as the best Bond actor.

I will probably be in the minority that will say it was Roger Moore.

The man was a pimp.
I´ll join that minority!

When i was younger and i watched the films Roger Moore was the one for me who i thought would be most like that in real life.

A smooth basta*d who just loved boffing women!

lol well when I said the top 3 choices, it was reference to when I was having a discussion with my friends one time deciding who the best James Bond was, and none of us have really seen the older ones, so it wouldn't really be proper to say you guys are in the minority. Should have clarified on that.

Watch the movies:

The Man with the Golden Gun and For Your Eyes Only.

Then watch Austin Powers again, you will laugh even more.

Absoultley.

Roger Moore films were done during the swinging 70's and there was no AIDS back then and alot less feminism, so it was easier to be a pimp back then. Now you have Daniel Craig (the modern Bond) who first rejects a chick because she was married and because he didn't want to compromise his mission. Then he ends up fvcking another chick whom he developed oneitis for and gets into a relationship with her only to double cross him. She ends up getting killed for it which causes Bond to go crazy and go midevil on everyone's asses. So because this was supposed to be the first bond, they are now trying to portray Bond as a man who is afraid of love and that's why he is always sleeping around. Makes me sick just thinking about it.

I agree with Darth too that Connery personifies Bond to alot of People including myself.

When i think of Bond i tend to think of Connery however, Moore is still my favorite in terms of how he played Bond and the lines he came out with seemed to suit him well. It just made me laugh more when i was watching the films.

NikNak: If you kill him this will all be mine
Bond: I´ve never killed a midget before, but there can always be a first time
The Man With The Golden Gun

There´s also a website with all the bond quotes on if you google i´m sure you can find it.

I'm guessing you haven't read the books then? That is the origin of Bond. He falls in love with Vesper, she betrays him, then she dies. This isnt something they added to the movie for sh1ts and giggles. I don't remember the married woman in the movie or in the book though.

My vote is for Connery as well.

Ah too difficult of a call in my view.

They all bring their own unique style and perspective on Bond.

Though, I'd vote for Pierce, Sean and Tim in that order. Daniel Craig is cool, but still needs to become cooler.

Surprised Sean is leading it. Well I wouldn't question it but I thought Brosnan would have been leading it.

Meh, personally the Brosnan era Bond was one of the lower points of the series (right up there with Moonraker) What I hated was all the CGI they used and the over-the-top action sequences. Really, you can only see things blow up before for so long before you get the sense the studio is patronizing you.

I'd rather see the classic Bond where he had to stuggle through a fight (the train scene from From Russia with Love for example.) I always liked the improvisation too (when he uses the crane to smash Blofeld's submarine into the control tower in Diamonds are Forever). Hell, with only one movie under his belt, Daniel Craig's Bond is better than Brosnan's.

I always enjoyed Roger Moore's movies the best, so I pick him. But I did enjoy Daniel Craig in Casino Royale. He was a good Bond and seemed to act the complete opposite way that other previous Bonds had acted. He didn't go the playboy route, but was more about killing bad guys as a priority and didn't make room for the ladies but took the lays as they came.

Roger Moore kicked ass. My favs were Live & Let Die and View to a Kill. Haven't seen Golden Gun yet.

Also, the russian chick in The Spy Who Loved Me looks identical to my ex.
