Have you ever noticed that? I'll be talking with the higher-ups in my church about my job prospects and they'll think the absolute worst for me or that it will not work out. Makes you wonder how it ever "worked out" for them, rich with $400,000 house and mercedes suv having such a self-defeating negative outlook. Some people just pollute your soul, and I don't consider them true Christians if they are not positive, only craving cowards and armchair warriors.

I see it as a sign of disrespect or non-belief in ME when they look gloomily at my prospects when talking about it (makes me not even want to talk about it! to THEM). It's as if they'll only commit to believe in Jesus and not to a fellow brother in Christ, not all but quite a few, are always thinking the worst for you. What's up?? when these horrible wretched ugly people think ill-will of you??

Even as an ex Christian turned atheist I am still disgusted by some people's pollution of Christianity.

If you are a true Christian you are not supposed to be damn near a millionaire or very wealthy as most of the income you make should go to feed the homeless and to help people in need in general ie just like the apostles and JC and the early Christians did it.

These days though these scumbags have twisted it so they can be rich with their "word of faith" and "prosperity gospel" that isn't gospel at all but a perversion of the truth.

Or well at least the true Christian way.

Not that I believe any of this stuff is true anymore or anything heh heh.

Well, if they're in a $400K house they must not be doing THAT well, $400K won't buy much any more. Hard to imagine someone in less than twice that owning a new Mercedes myself, but then I suppose maybe I'm not that focused on flash.

Isn't median household income around $80K per year now?

Anyway, if they don't stick to the Bible then they are not Christians, just hustlers who are using the Bible and the respect it engenders to make a buck. That makes them a very low form of scum in my book.

Where I be at
i think religion in general makes for more passive people concerning the opposite sex. Christianity is the focal one because it is the most popular in Western society, and here, ascetic ideals go against everything the seducer stands for. For someone to become a seducer, they need accountability for their actions and responsibility for the situations that unravel. Otoh, religion seeks to place the glory (or more often than not blame) on to a divine being. It romanticizes events and looks at romance as pure and leaves it to chance while the seducer studies the real reasoning behind love and creates his future.

Seduction to me is totally existential. When I get some free time I while go into depth on that statement hopefully

Well, I definitely disagree with the two socialist posters who have suggested that wealth equals immorality. The Bible doesn't say that at all.

But aside from that, I agree that the matriarchy has dramatically polluted most churches in America. For example, one preacher at my church recently made a disparaging remark about prenuptial agreements. A number of Christians also buy into the absurd "courtship, not dating" idea which encourages men to entirely abandon their boldness and masculinity. There is a reason that the majority of churchgoers are female, and it isn't because the Holy Spirit sexually discriminates. The Great One has made several posts about the corrupted church on his blog:

But from the op's post, it isn't clear at all why you are condemning your specific church leadership. You haven't given us any details about your financial plan. Maybe it does indeed suck. (?)

This is the kind of rhetoric that I'm talking about. I would think that my brothers in Christ would be more supportive than you, but even they are not supportive but negative, when they have almost as little information as you do about my situation I'm confronted with. They seem to always think right off the bat that something bad is gonna happen to me, as if they WANT or wish something bad to happen to me because they're jealous that they're not IN on the money making deal. They want something that they didn't think of to go wrong for me, thus they speak skeptically or negatively about my situation though not having nearly the knowledge that I have at hand. There are far fewer encouragers in the world than there are jealous possessive, even opportunistic-at-your-expense people. Basically, I find it hard to trust even my own brothers in Christ, rich OR poor.

HAHA!!! The original poster comes here to complain about negativity/AFC in the church, and 95% of the resulting posts are even MORE negative, and AFC!!!
And mostly off-topic as well!

Whatever, if you're so sure that your personal wisdom is superior to everyone else's, both at your church and on this forum, then I don't know why you are bothering to ask for advice. You don't need encouragement because you have all the answers, apparently.

Pride cometh before the fall, and most get-rich-quick schemes don't work out. I would like to encourage you, but I'm not gonna lie and tell you your future is wonderful when I have no idea what your plans are. Judging by your immature attitude, I'm honestly not real optimistic...

Anyways, I don't know what to tell you, but Go for it, do it. Just do your best, and even if you do fail, you'll learn from it, so you can get up and go again.

It's not a get-rich-quick scheme. It took me 1.5 years to get here, 1.5 of which these people did not take part in and know nothing about. I have investment in this plan already. THEY want to see it not work, just like Most people want to see celebrities falter or get shot down.

I'm an on the fence Christian and I used to live out of my car like the OP so i know where he's coming from w/ the money talk

I don't think I've ever gone to church for advice though - with guys like Fred Phelps defined as Christian, God is probably up there shaking his head. One of the pastors at the church I went to when I was kid ended up being a child molestor

In the end your walk with God (or wahtever you believe in) is your own. Church you can go to to anchor ideals of striving to be a better person, but if you want support, go to the people who know you and who don't have a professional obligation to be there for you but will anyway - AKA your friends

Pastors and preachers like Joel Osteen and Billy Graham are fakes and false teachers.

They preach way too much about Materialistic success and not enough about salvation and accountability.

I have a feeling Joel Osteen is secretly a devil worshipping free mason working with the illuminati to brain wash the masses like sheeps. It's a damn sad fact he has the largest church concregation in the US alone.
