Another poster on the Tips board included in his post a link containing the following excerpt regarding sleep and testosterone levels:

Sleeping less than 7-8 hours a night can screw up your body's circadian rhythm. That's why it's no wonder your testosterone levels are higher in the morning after a good night's sleep. So if your work or social schedule keeps you stooped over in perpetual jet lag, you will stop craving sex.

Does anyone have any scientific information relating to this assertion? If so, please share.

I dont have the source, but IIRC you what you say is correct and it is recommended that you have sex in the morning because of the elevated T levels.
