Inevitably at one point or another a girl will text you this or ask it in response to an online message. Or something

And I for one never have figured out a good answer
Tried funny ones - what I'm actually doing - extravagant ones
the only thing I think works is ignoring that and then skipping into conversation

What do you guys think? Or just like a list of generic responses

It doesn't matter what you say. Theres a lot tougher decisions out there to make in your life, this should not be one of them... Girls like you for who you are, not how you reply to a txt message.

"Hey, just [whatever you're doing]"... Then ask, "You? / What you doin'?", and go from there... Preferably keeping the focus on her.

Simple enough, eh? This is just a conversation initiator... The basics of all basics to get things going.

I've always looked at texting as a waste of time but, I've been told from girls that have liked me that they thought I wasn't interested. Saying because I never texted them. My friends text girls all the time, so its at least normal. Granted they're in highschool, but I posted it here because it (at least I Think the topic) applies to everyone.

Now i've started texting people and I just look at my phone and think what the **** there is no value in these ****ing conversations. Texting isn't in my comfort zone obviously.

You don't necessarily have to answer her question. Take it as a catch point and start off your own conversation. Or you could just be DIRECT and tell what you are actually doing without the unnecessary AFC humor.

Funny replies are what I love most.

Things like :

"I'm robbing a bank in Manhattan. Pack your **** , we're going to Hawaii".

If you got something going with her you can go for stuff like

"I'm up , if you know what I mean".


"Talking to the love of my life. But she's away now so I'm talking to you".


Depends on age / other stuff , but funny is what I usually go for.

If you reply, don't answer her question.

Just say, "Hey, what's up with you?"

Flip the script. Make her work.

She contacted you for a reason. True, she might be bored and want to entertain herself with a beta orbiter.

But, even if that's the case (I hope it isn't for your sake...don't be that guy), since she contacted you first, make her do the work.

Other possible replies:

"Wouldn't you like to know"

"You're funny"

"You out of jail already?"

Whatever. Just don't answer straight up and get her on her heels.
