Ok the other day me and my buddy were at a club. There were a few good looking women around, mostly in there little groups with there friends.

I am the kind of guy that will cold approach. Doesn't mean it always works out, but I always try to cold approach. So I talked to a couple of girls, nothing really spectacular and the whole time I was talking I noticed my buddy was sitting over there on his stool not saying a word.

He was just nursing his beer minding his own business. So I asked him why he wasn't talking to any girls.

He told me that it is "better to remain silent and thought a fool, then to open it and remove all doubt."

What do you think of this?

That's a famous quote (Hemmingway or Twain maybey?)
Anyway, it's completley ridiculous to apply it to the pick-up scene.

Unless everything you say makes you sound like a fool.

The only way you are going to forge yourself into something other than a fool in a social arena, is by getting out and playing the field. That quote sounds like a pathetic excuse covered in chocolate.

Everywhere you want to be.... I'm like a Visa card
Only a fool would use a quote like that to make it seem like he isn't a fool.

I got a better quote for your friend:

"Better to have tried and failed than to never have tried at all, for we learn best from our mistakes."

He's using that quote as a buffer to avoid feeling rejected.

Plus he was using the quote out of context.

Here's a good response quote to that quote.

You miss 100% of the shots you dont take.
