I'm in the process of completely eliminating all visual aides to masturbate to and I'm finding this to be quite a struggle. I've used visual aides to jerk it since at least 13 years old and I believe I've built up quite an addiction.

I've read a lot about the withdrawal symptoms and was just curious if you guys have quit porn and experienced some withdrawal?

Right now I'm having trouble sleeping, concentrating, I'm very irritable and on edge, extremely competitive, sometimes angry for no reason at all, feelings of low self-worth and generally just a mess on the inside.

I know that it takes some time to overcome but man it's rough right now.

Around day 8 depression crept up on me, but I'm not sure if its because of withdrawal or some other combination. I felt terrible, I can't remember the last time I felt so bad. And as suddenly as it came it went away, in less than 24 hours. I still can't find a reasonable explanation for that episode.

I suppose it's like giving up any drug, your body is going to fight and make you feel uncomfortable until you give it its next hit. So you are in cold turkey at the moment so it should get better. Try exercising and eating some healthy food to assist. Watching porn will change the chemical balance in your body...

Yeah, I was serious with my question. I believe that porn has affected me socially and with relationships and I'm trying to quit. In the process of quitting I have run into some 'withdrawal symptoms' that are pretty intense and I was just curious if anyone else has had similar problems and if so, how they dealt.

hi.

Go to

Yourbrainonporn.com

Theres a six part series you can watch about the release of dopamine and how sex addiction, drug addiction, sweets addiction, food addiction, porn addiction has everything to do with the release of dopamine and the desensitizing of our nerve receptors from too much dopamine.

Your brains receptors get numb from constantly masterbating or porn, and you have to do it more frequently or sufffer the withdrawals.

I found it extremely enlightening and try to only masterbate once daily. Although i do notice that i feel depressed (kinda scary to think that an addiction causes these sudden onsets of depression i have) for no reason during the days that i dont masterbate and after i masterbate its like getting my fix.

I can vouch for the porn / food link. Cleaning up my diet was the best thing I ever did. Just say no to factory foods.

I've been off porn for a over a month now as well. Your symptoms are definitely right on par with mine. I'm irritable, angry, ADD, restless, and just plain craving my fix.

But hell there are good things going on too. I have a decrease in social anxiety, and increase in energy, and I am more aggressive with women.
Yes, www.yourbrainonporn.com is a GREAT website.

I read in one article that referenced a study (I apologize for not having the source). It stated that men who started with porn in adulthood took about 8 weeks to withdrawl completely. However, those that watched porn while sexually maturing in adolescence, myself included, may take up to 3-4 months to completely withdraw. I'm willing to wait it out and see what happens. My advice would be to do the same...do it for yourself. Discover how much you have inhibited your emotional and sexual development by viewing 300 vaginas in the period of an hour.

If you need to get it out, it will get out some way or another. My advice....enjoy the increased energy and sensitivity.

Once I started looking at porn on a regular basis it caused quite a few things to happen :

No desire to date actual women (always had porn at home)
Hard to explain this, but I felt a little "dead" inside like I was just a robot
It was hard for me to jerk it without visual aides
I turned very voyeuristic and this weirded some girls out for sure (got called creeper a lot)
I didn't care about people or what they had to say, when they spoke I turned off
Sometimes extremely anxious for no reason
Very weird thoughts too
No spiritual development at all

I gotta say since quitting I feel a lot more attraction towards girls, I enjoy being around people a lot more, I have a huge desire to go out with a girl/people, I feel more at touch with my spirituality ect.

This is just my personal case, I know some people can look at it all day without any trouble but I believe it's an issue for me.

It's good to know others struggling with withdrawal symptoms as well.

I once tried to stop cold turkey...after 30 days I started having wet dreams...it was like my body was saying I need to clean the pipes one way or another....

It's only been a week for me and within a few days I was already beginning to lose it. I can't even think straight anymore

Last month forced me to work so much due to a hierarchy change at job so I just had time to work, hit the gym and few other things.

Without even noticing my time on internet decreased almost to zero so my surfing on big boobs volleyballers or piggy maids while at work, well I can say I noticed a difference in my mind.

First of all sex drive was not as heavy as before yet the desire to go out and flirt with girls increased, something more like "show yourself you can get some even if you're not hungry".
It was as if I was seeing girls more like objects than person to which have a sex or a relation, as if they were money to grab.

Then it came the inability to focus on learning who has been substitued from the need to act, wheter was the gym with full bodies work outs with the same weights and reps of 3 days routines or be sexually aggressive toward good looking girls.
Also an uncaring attitude toward danger or pain, as if part of my "human" brain was shutted down or under drugs.

Not exactly the best thing for someone whos supposed to do certain works, yet somehow refreshing to dont give a fvck about pain and danger or potential damages of any kind.

Porn withdrawal isn't serious until you find yourself fvcking ugly skanks just to get yourself off, and then regretting afterward that you didn't just stick to porn. As Kat Williams says, before I take another b!tch home from the club I'm going into the bathroom to whack off first, and then see if I still think she's a good idea. Porn is not harmful if it keeps you from making regrettable decisions regarding sex.
