They tell you not to be selfish. But yes, you should be selfish. What people don't understand is that you always have to look out for yourself before you can be any good for anyone else. Honor yourself. Respect yourself.
This is about getting laid, but it's about getting laid by means of being true to yourself as a man. You don't compromise that for anyone.
You will sacrifice your integrity because you hope it will get you respect, but it never works out that way. You don't want to act a certain way, but you think that's the way you need to act in order to be accepted. But if it's not what you really want to do, then your behavior is incongruent with your thoughts, and people pick up on that. That's why you don't get the respect you want. Because you're not genuine. Be genuine, and you will get what you want.
We would live in a very different world if everyone did this. We're all acting against our instincts in order to be accepted, and everyone's a basket case because of it.
I've been through more sh!t than most people, have had to endure great tragedies and humiliations and pain and disrespect and suffering, and one thing I've learned is this: In the long run, that action you didn't take for fear of making things worse... it wouldn't have mattered. Today you would still be alive, only much stronger for having done what your instincts told you was right.
Having a fear, but doing what you think you should instead of what others think you should do, regardless of the immediate results, which could be painful, makes you stronger than almost everyone else. Because they don't have the strength of their own convictions and principles. So they teach you that you shouldn't. Unlearn that now.
This is being a man. Having the courage to have a conviction, to risk not being liked because you won't stand for disrespect, and having the guts to approach a 120-lb woman and tell her what you really want from her.
This is being a man. And it's a man all women want.
To stop letting others tell you what is good for your life, to believe that what you want in life is what's right for you, and to go after it with absolutely no doubt, no looking back. In this way, you not only serve yourself, but you serve the world.
