i know there have been alot of posts about DJ movie actors, movies, etc. i just wanted to open this up again and find out who fellas think portray the essence of cool/DJ in terms of demeanor, confidence, attitude, charisma, etc.

here's my list (in no particular order):

pierce brosnan - thomas crown affair
denzel washington - mo' betta blues
christian troy - nip tuck
paul newman - the hustler
daniel craig - casino royale
brad pitt / george clooney - ocean's 11
rob lowe - bad influence (*** great movie btw - very slept on must watch *)
john travolta - swordfish
ryan phillipe - cruel intentions
terrance howard - the best man
eddie murphy - boomerang
jude law - talented mr. ripley
robert redford - the great gatsby

i think there are certain things that can be learned from all of these characters... even though, of course, they are fictional, they all have certain attributes/characteristics that can be studied and applied.

feel free to add on...

Horrible movie and even worse book! Gatsby puts his love on a pedistal totally! He lets the woman become the central goal in his life, to me that is totally AFC behaviour and not to be encouraged or taken from - other than an example of what not to do. Sure he self-improves but he is eventually f'd over for all his hard work because he placed this woman on a pedistal and she ultimately doesnt care.

Michael C. Hall as Dexter Morgan from the Showtime original series Dexter- Once he found out he was involved with a BPD in Lila he ended the relationship immediately and also he has his normal woman love interest Rita wrapped around his finger because he is the ultimate DJ towards her basically. Always keeps her wanting more with various surprises.

Paul Giamatti as John Adams from the series of that name- basically since a ton of guys here don't know what a real loving relationship looks like and a lot of guys come here wanting to get into one or think they already are in one (when they in fact aren't) they should watch this series as his love for his wife Abigail and her love for him is how relationships are supposed to be ie mutual give and take, respect and admiration for eachother, having mature disagreements and working through them, possessing genuine affection and loving feelings for one another. This series should be mandatory viewing for all the kids on the Discussion Forum before they even be allowed to post.

LOL... "charming" you are sooo true... again, i said each of these characters have "certain" attributes you can learn from... looking at the gatsby character you see the way he "carries himself" his "demeanor" - extreme confidence, rennaisance man, etc. he has created an aura where everyone wants to know about him, what he's about, who he's with, how he made his money, etc.! he's such a mystery... his social proof/value is sooo damn high. he created a regal image for himself and people just suck it all up!!!

i do agree that he totally loses cool points with the way he interacts w/ the chick from his past... he has so much clout, but still is weak in the knees when it comes to her!

Yes, while ultimately he does project himself as this mystery and he does appear to have limitless confidence, internally he is actually unsure and unstable, his confidence is fake and projected - shows through in the scene were they meet again in Nick's house and he is pacing and white as a sheet. I'd say Tom is a better example of what it is to be alpha, whilst still imperfect and uncontrolled, he has a genuine confidence that is not a showcase.

Lol, I had to study this book last year and thats probably one of the reasons why I have such a dislike for it, I found it all a bit insipid, its not really one of Fitzgerald's best by any means.

tom doesn't have "ultimate" confidence... he's very intimidated by gatsby and his social proof/value.

also, please.... for all of you who haven't seen "bad influence" - go out and buy it/rent it/ put it on netflix TODAY!!! those of you who have seen it, someone please tell everyone what they're missing!!

Sean Connery is the king IMO in almost ALL his movies.

Watching Pitt in Fight Club as well can change your perspective on manhood.

Mel Gibson in Lethal Weapon 2; I always thought the way he picks up the foreign chick was pretty smooth.

There is NO greater DJ than Rhett Butler played by Clark Gable in Gone with the Wind!

THERE IS NO GREATER DJ!

Sean Connery and Clint Eastwood are real men in all their movies, that's because they are REAL MEN in real life.

I say fight club again. Even Edward Norton is a portrayal of what a muted version of what a man can be. But in the end of the movie he simply becomes sub-zero awesome!
