A question to all of you.

You always talk about having muscles and being big as very important.

I don't agree.

You always talk about working out as being something absolutely important for raising your confidence.

I also don't agree.

Why ? Easy.

What matters is your attitude, and that won't come necessarily from working out and so. And there are people whose bodies are far different from the "perfect" body you praise that have lots of chicks.

Think about this.

Working out is far more than getting chicks, it's a lifestyle. You teach yourself success every time you can lift something you couldn't lift last time. With training your energy rises, you confidence raise. You cannot cheat when you train. You cannot wear a fake attitude and walk a fake walk to get what you want. In weightlifting dedication and perseverence is rewarded.

I admit my goal was to get women more interested when I started but now it has become so much more. Mayby you should try it out.

That link is gold.

Every little thing contributes to a greater whole - looking after your body being one of them. Working out makes me feel great, physically and mentally. The results I get give me a sense of achievement.

And being the shallow bastard I am, I just want a body for others to be envious of - because I deserve it.

At least im honest!

What you say you get by working out is achievable with LOTS of stuff...I could say with almost every hobby !

What reason could you possibly have, aside from lazyness, to NOT workout?

Pedro:

Am i right in presuming that you really DO want to work out (bulk/cut up) but you're looking for reasons NOT to as you might be too lazy/not motivated enough?

Not trying to get at ya - just my take on your post.

affliction: why should everyone do it ? I assume the general rule is people not doing it.
But even if it was the case, there are lots of reasons: sickness, impossibilities of schedule, etc.

silverwex: you're wrong. It's kind of strange to me this insisting stuff that working out will do wonders for you, and only it can do it, when in fact it's achievable with any other hobby.

Pedro, I'll agree that for many of the non-tangible benefits of working out could be achieved by other means. However, what about the obvious TANGIBLE benefits? How can anyone achieve those benefits without working out?

For example, take the United States population and even now China's. The majority of each countries population is overweight and a third of them are obese. Going on starvation diets alone is not healthy nor effective as we all know. It takes a combination of a healthy diet and exercise to combat obesity.

My other question for you is why SHOULDN'T a person work out? We've all heard your alternatives but you have not said why a person should not work out.

Just curious.

The difference is quite easy to get.

For you, it's quite mandatory for anyone to work out.

It's not a matter of should or not to should. Although my question was obviously directed to what you call non-tangible benefits.

F.ex: when I needed to lost weight, I decided not to work out. Why ? Easy. I was SINCERELY afraid of depending on working out to control my weight, as maybe in the future I won't have any time for it. Diet only made me lose 13kg, from 100 to 87 !

Most of all: anyone decides if yes or no. In fact, it's only a matter of "why should I"...because the only "why shouldn't I" stuff are the ones related to the basic needs of life as eating or sleeping.

No this is not the case, you cannot even compare other hobbies with weight lifting because you respond very different on the chemical level. Training will **** around with your hormones basically make you more content, painting or playing the guitar won't. But I do not understand what you are doing in here, if you are so hostile towards training drag your fat ass out off this section. We have our way you have yours.

1. Does anyone else think I was hostile towards anything ?????????

2. You probably don't know, f.ex., how I was so proud when I did a political job that everyone thought it was impossible to do. I guess I never felt so much confident in my entire life !

Everyone's energy rises doing something you're really passioned of.

And you can't cheat when you train anything. I don't cheat when I study Croatian, for example. It's a very difficult language, and I'm doing my best because I want to be able to speak it very well already in July when I'm there.

It's just a matter of passion. That's the important stuff, whatever it's playing drums, working out, fix computers...choose passion, choose a REAL life.

Re:

Anytime you do something for reasons other than your own, that "other" reason owns you, and will dictate your success or failure.

Socrates once said that it's a shame that we men are born with bodies housing the potential to be our own adonis', yet most go completely unused.

By the same virtue that we have a brain and should learn how it operates, we also have a body and should care for it. Many guys deck out their cars, why not their bodies'?

Nelly once said "A great body is a gift to yourself." And while, in the long-run, women desire a man who's in shape, but NOT perfect, you're only lifting to pacify yourself. On the whole women don't like super decked out pretty metrosexual boys.

Less fat raises testosterone levels, as does the requirement to hold more muscle mass.

Confidence comes from knowing, you've made yourself a prize. We're taking concrete steps here. And you can say as many affirmations as you like, but actually WORKING out gives you the confidence in your mind, body, and soul. There are other DJ's out there lifting religiously, and you're not competing for women, you're competing against us if you're not seriously taking control of your mind, body, and soul.

Yeah to some degree but you cannot compare those things like this. Working out will change the way you look, people will treat you differently and more women will look at you right off the bat.

Yeah the latter I agree too, strive for your own ideal.

People work out for different reasons. For some its just a hobby, for some a way to relieve stress, keep in shape, or even an obsession(you probably met these health freaks that know every single nutrition fact of every food they are about to eat).

If you dont feel like working out will greatly benefit you, or simply dont want to work out...then dont.
I mean ****, you'll never see me in the gym cause of the simple fact that i'm too lazy to work out,but i'm in better shape than 90% of population, so there's no need for me to sweat my balls off on a treadmill.

LOL.

To the poster of the thread:

Saying you need to be built in order to be confident and attract women is equal to saying you need to be a movie star in order to drive a Bentley.

Of course it's unrealistic. Anyone can save up cash and buy a Bentley one day, the difference is, the movie star can buy one (or two, or three) right away.

It's the same thing. Not being in shape doesn't mean you can't hook up. The difference is, it becomes a hundred times easier. When you've invested years of training into your body, it shows, and women are attracted to it, just like you and I are attracted to 9s and 10s. YOU get approached more often, they initiate kino first all the time, they offer less resistance, they flake less, and they treat you much better then they treat average looking joes. and you have to put in much less effort.

I used to think like you 3 years ago. The only way you can see the difference is to actually live it.

Hope that answers your question.

Peace.

Is this basically a thread about those that enjoy working out vs. those who don't?

Today I was out socialising with a group of friends, feeling confident, powerful and the centre of attention. Women were flirting with me, laughing at my jokes and I was in control.

Then for a moment we were joined by this huge black guy - short, ugly as sh1t, but totally ripped! I'm tall, in decent shape and considered attractive, yet the moment he stood next to me I felt like Mr Bean. It was as though he sucked up all my confidence and power and I instinctively stepped down into a beta role...before he even said a word.

Make of that what you will.

If the guy was "ugly as ****" his body shouldn't help with the ladies that much. How did the girls act around him?

Francisco: Not by any means, at least I didn't want it to be that way. I just think here people overrate working out, as if it was mandatory for being a DJ and so on. The good stuff working out gives you - at least in terms of confidence and that kind of stuff - is achievable with any stuff you really have passion in it. Working out without passion won't help you.

Jariel: you shouldn't be affected with other people. You must improve your confidence ! See ? You are overrating ripped bodies ! Anyway, you must have confidence in yourself. You totally lack confidence when you see someone more ripped than you. Come on, believe in yourself !

MindOverMatter. maybe you'll get approached more often (well, at least here in Portugal some VERY muscled guy won't get the same attention as, let's say, a Men's Health cover guy), but that won't give you more confidence as other stuff you have passion doing. Ah, and fortunately Southern Europe is not like the USA, where you get better treatment for physically looking "better".

Finally, anyone knows about his body, for sure. But I believe here many people want to be huge. It seems to me that many won't be happy with a toned body...
