The old wive's tale of "do HIIT as your only form of cardio when bulking" is ridiculous. How the hell are you supposed to squat when you do that?? Every time I do HIIT sprints I end up sore for 3 days straight. Steady-state cardio is fine, as long as you don't do it for too long so as not to cannibalize too much muscle, and you replace the calories enough to keep the muscle.
