Richard Thompson (Fairport Convention, etc.) doesn't get nearly the recognition he deserves, nor does Will Sergeant of Echo & the Bunnymen. I've always liked PeteTownshend, Robert Fripp (King Crimson), Roy Wood (The Move, 1st ELO album), and Roger McGuinn (Byrds) a lot, too. Some of my favorite classy, understated guitar work was done by Justin Clayton on his obsure, excellent 1999 Limb album.
