For a bit of light hearted discussion and b/c i have to go to one:

Does anyone have expereince picking up in a science/engineering (im trying avoid certain words) college?

- Would u be better off or worse off than a liberal arts oriented college girlwise? (e.g. you do have less competition don't you)

-How are the girls: better/worse/"guy hating"/guy "loving"?

- Are there any pretty girls at all? (plz don't lie and disappoint
me :p)

- Are guys there total nerds? (hey i want some friends too you know)

-Anything you have to do differently?

So in generally, what experiences do you guys have?

What you believe is true.

Mad, but true.

Yes, engineering courses etc have more men, nursing and arts have more women.

Yes the women doing art are easier to get on with.

I don't agree with it all but that's the way it seems to be.

One thing is definately clear: women on `masculine` courses have more men around them so your chances aren't so good.

At one stage I joined a course in the 3rd year and on the course there were no prospects at all.

But art school will get you nowhere.

Go to engineering school by day and yoga classes by night ;)

This really depends on the school you are at. If you are going to a small strictly tech place like Harvey Mudd, Rose Hulman or Bucknell it may be tough. If you are off to somewhere like MIT, UIUC or UMich it may be a bit easier. I aint gonna lie there are very few girls in engineering no matter where you are though. It also depends on the field. In my experience upper level EE,ME and MSE are pretty much classes filled with guys. From my understanding BME, Civil and IE are a bit better for woman. this all really depends on where you are at and either way at bigger schools you will be taking gen. eds. with hundreds of people anyways from all majors. As for science there actually are a hell of a lot of girls around. More so it seems than engineering.

I'm going to tell you straight up though the work is a pain in the ass. A lot of people dont make it out of the first year and I really dont blame them. Unless it is something that you are truly interested in it almost isn't worth the time.

If you go to an all out engineering school you will be ****ed regarding chicks. Unless the school offers bio-medical engineering, there's some pretty hot chicks doing that (at least where I am, there's like a couple of HB8s). The few chicks that are doing engineering will probably be more interested in studying then in dating, and they will most likely be at best hb6.

Basically, if you are looking to pick up chicks, don't go to an engineering school. If you are looking for a job after graduation, then go to an engineering school.

Also, check to see if your school offers a 'double-degree'. That way you can do Eng + somethingelse. I'm doing Mech-Eng/Com, so I get a nice balance (there's alot of chicks in Commerce).

well this is kinda what i expected to hear (disspointingly but thanks for not lying lol). What would you do in this situation? I wanted to be a tech entrepreneur so i needed an engineering degree anyways so thats not an option.
Maybe use the library you think?

no experience personally. But I do know that some engineering schools, such wentworth institute, georgia tech, worchester polytech, rochester polytech are all about 70-80% men.

While, in liberal arts schools, it's usually 50-65% women.

So of course, you'd be better off going to a liberal arts college to meet women.

Anyways, I go to a business school, where it's close to a 2 to 1 guy to girl ratio (making it tough to meet women).

But if you're a true DJ, then you'll meet women regardless to the percentages of women.

Don't let women hold you back on your aspirations of becoming an engineer, but I'd suggest a state university over a small engineering school (if your goal it to meet lots of women).

out of curiousity I just looked up the stats for my school which is a huge state school with a top ten engineering program. 20% women. The highest % women of all departments was chemical and biomed followed closely by industrial. Damn thats a shame. It actually seems like it is even worse than that in some classes though.

Yeah take up yoga classes and study in the library.

Don't choose your career based on how many chicks you'll get with at college...

This is your future you are toying with, don't base what school you go to on the number of chicks in that school. If what you want to do in life is engineering then find out the best school to teach you.

A DJ bases his life around what he wants to do and accomplish in life. Girls shouldn't even enter into the equation.

Now, go find the best engineering school. and if you want chicks, then go hit a mall or some other place.

Haha. Thanks Spacebar, but I wasn't looking for emergency advice or anything. I just wanted a light discussion about how it was like at engineering school thats all.

Engineering female students tend to be average and below, rarely will you ever pick up on someone that is super attractive. If she were, she'd rather be more in the public where she can talk to individuals rather than "engineering" the plans on a desk for hours on end by herself.

I'm first year engineering. We don't specialise until next year, but we have about one hundread guys and five girls in our year. All I can say is that they are lucky *****'s. They are all probably average looks, but everybody hits on them because they are unique and probably seem hotter because there are no other girls around.

I go to Georgia Tech. WORST ****ING PLACE IN THE WORLD FOR AN ASPIRING DJ. I'm Asian so I've only been going for the Asian chicks. A majority of the girls will be ugly. The ones that aren't will most likely have boyfriends. Every girls think they are 2 lvls above what they really are, because so many desparate guys hit on them. If they are engineering and you are as well, there will be little time to see each other. Oh yea, all the hot girls know each other which makes it a pain.

go to a university, join a frat, and don't worry about the % of women in your engineering classes.

Again, and DJ will be a DJ regardless of the percentages.

I go to a college where there is few girls, mostly male computer geeks, and theres a total of about two attatcive girls in all my classes...

It sucks I suppose, but whatever theres plenty of places to meet girls other than school....

But if your going away, then pick a school with girls... cuz im living at home, so theres plent of girls at other colleges around etc...
