If people want to get rid of the Electoral College, a compromise should be made where Voter ID requirements are created and enforced in every state and territory of the US.

Personally, I also think the EC system is outdated, but think that a mixed system that weighs voter distribution in districts and state popular vote winner to allocate electors should be implemented to balance federalism and democracy, similar to Nebraska's and Maine's. The national popular vote would also be weighted in this updated system. Counterbalances to prevent or minimize gerrymandering as much as possible, should be incorporated as well.

Another way to reform elections is to get rid of them all together. Waste of time, money and energy!
