Well, as an actual philosopher (Master's, going on for a Ph.D.), it seems to me to depend on what branch of philosophy you're interested.
The existentialists, the social philosophers, and the political philosophers tend to do pretty well for themselves when it comes to women.
The metaphysicians, the epistemologists, and the logicians don't seem to do that well for themselves.
I don't think this distinction has to do with the type of philosophy they study... rather, I think that those with more social personalities are drawn to the more social types of philosophy. Similarly, I think that AFCs are drawn to the more abstract reaches of philosophy. They aren't social to begin with, so they don't see as much of a need to study the more social branches.
