As PR said, not a good idea. The only way I see this working is if you are just meeting in the early afternoon, very causal, like walking in park or getting coffee, and she is actually available. Just the fact that is sort of last minute, gives her a good excuse to test you, and say she has plans, even if she doesn't. I know it sounds stupid and most here will say, "well if she's testing you, then NEXT", yet, that is how they see the world when it comes to some of these things.
The only time to actually call on a friday or saturday, is if YOU already have plans and therefore there is no chance you will come off needy and wanting to get something from her. Then, and only then you can just invite her to get together mid week or the following weekend. Believe me, they know when you are calling because you got your act together or because you got nothing going on.
