I went to a doctor and was referred to a surgeon b/c my butt cheek area , the whole surrounding area is very dark and looked infected. I went to my surgeon and he did an office surgery when i got there and told me i had a Pilonidal cyst. Well he took a knife and cut some part of my skin on Thursday and told me to stay in my bathtub with running water and lye 3-4 times a day for my butt to circulate.

I will be going back on Tuesday as another follow up. I might have the operation i dont know yet. However, since he already did the in office surgery on Thursday, he noticed that my butt area is not as reddish/black as it was before. Yes i know the area around my butt and genitals is suppose to be darker than your skin but my butt cheeks and the surroudning areas are VERY dark. i am asian male 23 by the way.

When i look at the mirror, my butt cheeks and the area surrounding my butthole is very dark. I asked my doctor would the discoloration go away since most likely it was the pilonidal cyst that caused this and he said most likely not.

Does anyone know what i can do? My butt area looks black and bruised obviously it was from the infection of the pilondial cyst. I didnt went to the doctor 1 -1.5 year ago when i noticed this b/c I was very scared.

I googled and saw some things on anal bleaching but is that for the butt? This is very embarrassing as well for me. I also saw that they say dont use the product if the area is infected and what not so I don't think i should use that. Again, my butt cheeks when i spread a little looks VERY BLACK like i had some BIG bruises there and it loks like it will stay there forever.

Does anyone know what i can do specifically? Thank you.

So after ignoring an infection for at least 1.5years you are now attempting to bleach an open wound away.

Wow. You must really hate your body. I don't know about you, but dying of a butt infection sounds more embarrassing then getting it treated.

Here's a hint: Instead of asking questions, why don't you do your own reading into what a Pilonidal Cyst is and how it can be treated or removed. It sounds like a good idea to me. What do you think?

I took a long time b/c i was worried. i did not even know i had a cyst there. The only reason why i went now was b/c the area around my butt is very dark and it never went away. When i went to the surgeon, he mentioned about the pilonidal cyst even though i went there b/c my butt region was darker and looked bruised.

Today he said it looks like it is healing fine. However, i went back to my original doctor office and there are usually 3 doctors who work there. The one i saw today, not the one that referred me to the surgeon told me that the pilonidal cyst is most likely the reason why my butt area and surrounding area is very black. The surgeon today however told me the cyst is not the cause of the blackness on my skin.

I dont even know who i am suppose to believe in.

I just had my doctor refer me to a skin doctor to see tomorrow. Hopefully, he knows if this is the reason why my whole butt area is discolored black and looks bruised. Even my doctor said if it infects the area, the whole area would looks bad which makes sense.

Am i suppose to trust the surgeon more? I mean the whole area that is dark on my butt is pretty close to the cyst.

Trust the skin specialist. Doctors are general knowledge, surgeons are hands on, and the specialists know exactly what the problem should be if its in their area. If you don't like the answer, get a second opinion. If everyone says the same thing, chances are they're correct.

Do what the doctor says and for god's sake leave the area to heal before trying anything.

Yea alle. I wanted to hurt myself now for never going when i should have.

The thing that bugged me a lot was my surgeon kept saying most peoples butts and groin areas are a lot darker which is true. However, my butt area just looks BLACK and i am not exaggering. It is also pretty red on the left side too when the doctor saw me today.

Going to see skin doctor tomorrowo afternoon

Hopefully its a reaction to the infection. After it seals up, see if the area gets lighter.

Good that you're going to the doctor on time, this time. Its always better to catch problems early as you know...

Anyone? I had it drained last Thursday but the surgeon said i dont have to see him anymore. The skin specialist said i should see him in 4 weeks for the drainage to be fully done and he most likely would refer me to a surgeon.

The thing that makes me 100 percent sure i need surgery is that my whole butt cheeks look inflammed. It looks purpish blackish. The weird thing is i dont feel any pain from the pilondical cyst
